Nice, I really dug that.

Saturday I played a benefit show at the showcase club in Hood River OR. I did my Passing Wind duo schtick, but I was also invited to play a set with the next band, which was pretty noisy and quite outside even by my standards. Big fun, and a nice excuse to whip out the Big Rig for once. :bassist:

Our Final show of the year snow storm canceled! Yeah hate when that happens. We had our first storm of the year here in Jersey higher areas hit pretty hard yeah my singer chooses to live in the middle of no wheresville and he can't get out to do the show wasn't to bad in the area we were going to play so the owner and the tons of fans who showed up didn't get it! But we could not do it without him it was an hour before the setup time and we cancel!Anyway our Lead guitarist went anyway for a beer and to smooth things over with the owner who after finding out where the singer lives was understanding so I guess he will re-schedule? We put the big sorry shout out to our fans and thank them for the years of support. Either way it was a great year for us and we already ready have 10 shows line up for 2010 so we are hoping it will be as good if not better than this year! I will be back after our 1-16 gig later TBer,s

We tripped a circuit breaker on the first song, but after that it went very well! The new guy we were trying out did a good job, I only had to tell him what key we were in once. Looks like he'll be joining. Hopefully this will mean an improvement in our vocal situation.
Also we had a number of friends sit in, and they did pretty well too. The bad weather predicted earlier in the day never materialized, thankfully. And my favorite bartender there has lost some weight, she's lookin' good! :p

Next gig: with the country band, NYE at Addy's in Manassas VA.
I'm hoping for more gigs next year than I had this year.

Last saturday we did our first gig and I'd say we did a 5 to 10.

First up was the old fender amp giving up on me, so I needed to ask for one of the fellow bands who coincidently had an exactly the same BXR300... A bit later I saw that the 2nd band's bassplayer was using an Ampeg SVT into a marshall 800 cab, I wonder if she'd allow me to use that rig.... In the 80's it used to be common practive to lend out equipement to fellow bands on the bill, not sure how that works out nowadays.

Of the 10 songs we did (we were the firts of 4 bands) we molested 5 of them. Luckily we just carry on playing as if nothing happened, stopping in the middle would be not good at all... I'd say we need more rehearsal and concentration while at it on stage, maybe later we can consider mad posing stuff hehehehe

Soundwise all was ok on stage, there was a very small pa system that was used for vocals and bassdrum only.
So sound on stage was directly from the amps and the drums
I had the impression that both on and off stage the overall sound was good and well balanced.

Even with this bad performance we got positive reaction and I think we did well compared to 2 of the other 3 bands. All bands played totally different styles, which made it a very enjoyable evening after all.

Did a Christmas RnB gig, including a pretty funky version of silent night and Rudolph haha. Went well. minor mistakes that i bet the band didn't even notice let alone the crowd. Couple fudged transitions, but again only the band noticed.

We're all hired guns in this band. Singer writes the tunes and we play his charts. it's kinda nice because we're all friends, but don't really need to do anything but show up and play the page down.

It's never a bad night at the Peoria Auld Dubliner, or any of the other Irish pubs where we play in the PHX area. We do 10-2 tonight, with a broad range of classic rock to danceable pop classics that a guitar trio can make up for with attitude to cover the missing instrumentation (Brick House, et. al.). I only need to bring my 1x12 PA cabs, and my little MROD (Genz Shuttle 3.0 1x10 combo atop the Ampeg mini-SVT 2x10 cab for 300w). Gonna roll tape too, just for fun and QC. Sometimes, we get a useable gem for the myspace page update.

NYE show is gonna be huge at a different Irish pub, not far from what ABC's TV coverage will be shooting at, on the eastern end of Tempe Towne Lake (the TV crew usually covers the events at Beach Park, which is on the western end of the man-made lake). If you watch the Insight bowl that afternoon, the blimp shots will give great perspective, as would Google Earth. We'll be a 5-piece that night.

Playing a restaurant/bar tonight between 8-12, 30 minutes break after every hour. Mostly 70s, 80s rock and roll, a bit of country and some popular tunes.. Will update after the gig.

Edit: Very less chance of cancelling the show on account of snow as it never snows here in Delhi, India (lol)

New Years eve at a very tony club in Manhattan. Not the most lively crowd but New Years eve is for whorin' by making money. My least favorite drummer will be there, making it somewhat painful for 5 1/2 hours. I refer to him as " the antigroove".
But like I said, NYE= big$$.
