Played our first outdoor gig of the year Sunday (02/21/2010). We had a pleasant high of 68 degrees here in central Florida and the scooters were out in force. Gig went very well, had fun and made some new friends as well.

Working with the acoustic trio "Bridges" tonight, opening for guitarist Pete Huttlinger at Towngate Theatre in Wheeling WV. Just a short set, and I think I'll be playing my acoustic 5 string, just to keep with the flavor of the evening.....haven't gigged with that bass in a LONG time, should be cool. :cool:

Survived 3 gigs within a 30 hour span this weekend, and have gotten word that I'll be getting additional pickup work in March. Am being asked to go to an open mic tonight to get some prep work in. After bowing out of the Green Daze tribute project due to lack of passion, I got word today that I will be needed for the debut show on St Paddy's Day, which will be the first of 2 gigs that night.

Okay, I played a show Sat night even though we had a major snow storm, Thursday and Friday the roads were pretty cleanup by Sat. night. We had never played here on a Sat. night, so with the bad weather and the not knowing what kind of crowd we would get? I was happily surprised when I rolled up on the place and had nowhere to park my car (always a good sign). So I park in the fire zone to unload.
The rest of the equipment had already arrived the stage was mostly finished when I got there. This is the place that I had mention runs a tight ship when it comes to your set list and breaks So we took the stage at exactly 10Pm and rocking the place for 45 minutes before our first break . Break time I did some PR cruising of the crowd and hand out a large stand of our business cards to people I did not know, afterwards I made my way outside to phone home to check in on the kids make sure everything on the home front was okay, I thinking I could maybe get out of the fire zone. But no there were no openings and a stream of about 15 people were crossing the street from another parking, lot which I didn’t know belong to the club? I drove across the street and after about 3 minutes I found an open space.
By the time I got back in the place the band was ready to hit the stage again (not really a break) I jumped up there and I was told a local band who plays there was in the house and the chick singer was going to back us up on the Bon Jovi who says you can’t go home, and there guitar player who also sings, wanted to sing the Allman’s One way out so I guess that’s cool. So they both perform with us which, was a nice break for our singer. Rocked the rest of the set and was approached by the club owner who wanted to know what sound system we were using because he had never heard a crisper cleaner mix from any other band that play there and I jokingly told him if I told you I have to kill you and walked away to his amazement. We of course have a full Bose system with two sub woofers on either side of the stage power by an 800watt power amp and 24 channel Mackie Board. There were a few birthdays going on so this one young lady comes up asking for songs for her girlfriends BD and every song she asks for we do not know incredible considering we collectively know 500 songs and she hits us 4 we do not know?
Anyway we hit on one from our set list and she drags the birthday girl up to dance. To same she was well built up top is an understatement and she had a way to low cut dress ala a German bar maid if you get the picture with a push up bra so the jump around was bound to cause some wardrobe malfunction no doubt. To my surprise that wasn’t the case but they did some kinky stuff in front of the stage a little SM stuff whipping each other with a leather belt and trying to remove articles of clothing to get some good welts. Their parents would be proud! We finished off the night with the last song ending at exactly 2:30AM clean up and I got home at 3:45AM after a Chicken Parm. sandwich and made it to bed by 5AM all in all a rocking good time here in North Jersey. Two gigs on this weekend so I will hit back after those
Oh yeah on gig one I have a guy coming by to test run a older model of the SX P bass he wants to sell me

Played last night in a place that every time we play has bad weather. Weather was great no snow, no rain nice. We set up pretty quick I am excited about two more Bose sub woofers we have added to our Pa man let me tell you the floor was shaken under my feet! Sweet punchy sound coming from my Fender P loved it! We performed a new cover last night Beatles While my guitar gently weeps, came out like we have been playing it for years " Please re-call we never see each other till the show" so I am glad to see that everyone did their home work. We are playing again tonight and more excitement,The guy is bringing the SX P for me to try out and hopefully buy! Ah life is good. Rock on Tber's till Monday RTS

Okay add me to the long list of Tber's with a SX P bass. I found this one on the craigslist Vintage series p with the old head stock . Was in a few towns over from me and the guy only wanted $75.00 so, I figure what do I have to lose. I set up a meeting with the guy to bring it out to a show we were doing in that town and I could try it in the live show " what better way to see if it is going to cut it". He brought it out and gave it to me of course it was not tuned so, and I ran over to the tuner and dialed it in tuned and and it stay in tune so far so good.Next I pushed in through the pa system and check the neck and action were perfect, harmonics were good and no dead spots or buzzing frets. So I was pretty happy so far.I figured I would kick off the first set with it and from the first notes it was a monster! I had to turn it down a few times because, it was shaking the rafters. I paid him as soon as I left the stage it was a great night and I played the he double hockey sticks out of it all night here is the craigslist add and pics enjoy

It was our drummer's last weekend with the band. Friday wasn't real busy, they've been having trouble with that for the past year. But we played well anyway, and had fun. Saturday was the big sendoff for the drummer. He had a lot of friends in, a big cake, and at one point all his friends lined up in front of the stage and threw panties at him while he played "Wipeout". His wife orchestrated the whole thing. I'm gonna rent her next time I quit! :D

I'm going to miss him. He's a cool guy, no drama, and has his ego well under control. His time is excellent, because he plays to a click track. He's also a big Jaco fan, I don't often find a country player that I can talk Jaco with.

We are actually going to rehearse with the new drummer. First time in about 6 years for this band. The new guy is an old guy, who got me in this band back in 2000. But he's quite a different player, so I will have to adjust, hopefully by 3/19, our first gig w/him.

Next gig: On The Bus, doin' the Grateful Dead thing at the Potomac Grill in Rockville MD, Saturday 3/13. :bassist:

We played to a UNC crowd right after UNC got donkey-stomped by Duke. Most of our first set was spent trying to cheer everyone up... with moderate success. We pulled out some mid 90s pop-rock covers to try to inject some happiness...

By the second set, folks had mostly drank away their sorrows and were ready to rock out.

No technical glitches. I used by 70s MIJ EB3 copy for the first time live with good results.

Heading to Fishbones in Greektown, downtown Detroit.. Supposed to start at 10, depends on the dinner crowd. Last time they seated a large party where the stage goes right around 9pm, by the time they finished and left, set up the stage, we went on about 12;30, played to 1:45. One long set... :bawl:

I come to play, hardly worth moving the gear for an hour and change...

Hopefully we'll get a full nights work in tonight.

Well, we had loads of people in spite of the rain, and they really enjoyed the band. We were pretty loose, and had a few dubya T-eff moments, but it didn't seem to matter. A high point was the addition of a friend of ours on vocals and harmonica for a few tunes each set. He's the former leader of a local Dead cover band and a good front man. Actually, I didn't want to let him off the stage! He'd be a great addition to the band, if he'd agree to it.

Next gig: Brandy Stills, bringing country music to the nice folks at the Moose lodge in Leesburg VA, Friday the 19th. First gig with the new drummer.

Our gig on Saturday went well despite the pouring rain and high winds. The place was packed. A big part of the city lost power but luckily we didn't. It was our drummer's birthday, so it got a little wild and everyone had a hell of a good time. He's a pic from early in the show. The later ones got a little "blurry". ;)
