Played open mic at the V-club in Huntington WV last night. We go do this 3-4 times a year, but never had a night like this. Our keyboard player is going thru some issues personally and couldn't go, so we pressed on. Did 8 songs instead of the usual 4-5. The club owner was actually there tonight, and after our bit was over, asked us if we could cover 2 hours worth of a Friday night, and if we had contact #. Guitar player had some tech difficulties and broke a string, but we really rocked last night. Great night and worth the hour drive!

Okay got a gig Sat night in our home away from home this is the place all of are fans make it to every time we play the area so, it is always a great night for us! The owners love us and always come up on the mic to say so. I have been dying with a upper resp. infection and mid grade fever all week so that may take the wind out of my sails a little but, I will be rocking Sat night even if I need an oxygen tank! RTS

We did a 12 song set and the first 2 were rough with several wrong notes. The second song was a little better till I got lost for a measure! (we had just practiced 3 hours before and played solid on everything!) Made the mistake?? of looking over at the bassplayer dude and he was looking away and I thought, "uh oh", I've failed, I'm doomed!

No, don't think that, the band is depending on me for 9 more songs! Besides, we've done it all before plenty of times. My wife and FIL are standing and clapping and swaying happily! Cool! Maybe things aren't that bad after all.

The PA is WAY too LOUD! Too! Oh, Well! Anyway the jitters gradually faded and I was able to play the rest OK. By the end, "Spirit in the Sky" I was doing fine and the audience was really into it! And there was some planned audience participation that went great even when we all dropped out perfectly on cue and came back in right on sync. That was really great since that was the part we struggled with the most in practice.

The guy with the t-shirt came up and congrat the other guys and never even looked my way. Which was cool, since there was really no reason he should have. But, it was a good experience. I just wish I could play in the presence of other bass players and get some advice on playing and get a better idea of whether I'm good or bad for the band. At least where I'm at in the learning curve right now.:)

Hey don't sweat it maybe you are a better person and bass player than he is! Just because he has a bass t-shirt he bought in K-mart doesn't make him a great bass player. And think of it this way maybe the reason he did not say anything to you is because you are both thinking the same thing he is a better player then I am? Keep rocking the bottom.

we have a outside gig at harley dees in carbonares almeria spain on may 2nd with a new guitarist and a new singer and its my first gig in six months with 24 NEW SONGS..............AAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i will let you know how we got on(or maybe i will just crawl into a small hole)it all pivots on californication.

Had a gig yesterday at my local town's opening day for baseball. Overall good. Did some really good covers (dazed and confused was surprisingly good) and originals. The one thing really bad about it was My Generation, my fault though. When I got to the solo I was surprised to notice everyone stop after 2 times on the chorus (in practice we had it at 4 times). I got the first part of the solo off fine ironically and I felt like a hero. On the next part I got half of it and l got lost on the fretboard and played some random stuff. The third part I played the second part over by accident and missed a few notes on the last part. That really got me down because I knew it by heart before then and sitting here now I have been playing it very successfully. I think I was trying to be like thunderfingers too much (I was striking the strings extremely hard and actually getting something similar to his sound).

Okay, had a gig Sat. night. Place was packed as always. No problems with equipment started on time and ended late due to 4 encores. I had the flu and was running a low grade fever all night but, I played my butt off and did not let it get to me even though I nearly fell out twice during the show.I was afraid I was going to forget some of the newer songs but I did not. Drove home in the rain and got in my house around 2:45AM.

I simplified most of the solo with Power cords on Californication and it works well.

We have a charity gig on Saturday at a walk/run event to benefit research to beat a nasty childhood disease called Niemann Pic. We play from about 10:30 to 1:00 which sounds normal, except it's 10:30am. And there's an opener that starts at 9:00am using our PA so we need to be there about 7:30am :help:. There may be 1000 people there.
I'm a little worried. We look much better in a dark bar (except for our female lead singer) and sound much better when people are drinking. Oh well, I'm happy to do it. It's for a very good cause. The son of a friend of our drummer has Niemann Pic.

We played Sat night good turn out and we rocked the place. Two new songs went over really well so they are keepers! I was home by 2AM Got and email from the keyboard player the owner wants me to set up more dates so that is the icing on the cake!
Playing this Sat., I will let you know how we make out. Keep rocking the bottom RTS

Went into the weekend feeling a little pain in my back and chest area. As I had a procedure the week before for 2 fractured discs in my spine, I wasn't concerned. Pain kept increasing Friday night. I was able to do my 2 gigs on Saturday but had to cancel Sundays gig. Turns out I was having a reaction to one of the drugs they're giving me to fight my cancer. This reaction is the equivalent of a 4 day flu. Its starting to subside but it really threw me for a loop.

After a show in Fresno CA the Bassist for the band I crew for was walking back from Mcdonalds to the hotel room. A lovely lady of negotiable virtue proclaimed "Hey baby, joo look good tonite!" he got into the room, a minute later the phone rings and I answer "Hey baby, you want a date tonight?"

Before a show in Santa Cruz yesterday, picking up some grub at a Whole Foods a girl comes up to our guitarist
"Hey, are you a firefighter?"
"Uhm.. no, no I'm not"
"You look like you could be a Firefighter"

After that same show
"Hey my wife got me into you guys, you remember her, Heather ******"
*Shrug*
You dated her?
*blink*
"Oh man don't tell me that she's been lyin to me."

Awkward moment, really feel sorry for the guy if that's the case.

Actually didn't have a gig booked last night,but still played a set.

Went to a bar to check out another band,started giving one of them good humored heckling for taking such a long set brake (1/2hr??) and he says "let's go make some noise and get 'em back up here,uuhh..you play anything?" Heh,heh..

Their bassist said it was cool,so,thier guitarist jumped on drums,I noodled along.The rest of the band comes up on stage,I start to leave,and they say "Hey,wanna jam a little? you know__?"

So, I got to sit in w/a band of strangers for a set.New exp. for me. Although the dynamics got a little strange a few times,we all had fun and sounded good too.
It was kinda like an open mic/jam,but everyone knew thier stuff :D

2 gigs this weekend. One just a party, outdoors, great bbq and fun crowd. That was with Funkranomicon, and we played relaxed and funky and it was great.
Played 4 sets today for Mothers' Day at a nice winery up in Half Moon Bay with Folk in A (billed as "T-Bone and Catfish" for Mothers' Day, the winery didn't want to put "Folk in A" on their Mothers' Day flyers). We played well, people dug us, and we drank some very good wine. A win all around.

Okay Sat night went well I was surprised at the turn out which wasn't our best but, not bad considering the crazy weather (high winds with trees coming down every where!) and the night before Mother's Day. I was hurting from the beginning with my back problem nawin' at me like a toothache and getting progressively worse as the night wore on. But while I was on stage I jumped around like I was 16 and couldn't even sit down during our 2nd set break. Our drummer had something that made him sick and he nearly passed out before the second to last song in Set 3 so we pulled the plug on the rest of the night which was about 4 minutes left to go. Owner had no problem we helped him pack up and got out round 2AM road I usually take home was closed due to a fallen tree so drove around town an extra 20 minutes trying to find my way out of there. Jumped on the Garden St. finally and got home just before 3AM. Next show this Sat.
