I had a show last month for my band at 9:00, we were prepared and excited for the show. We arrived to find out the guy (total acid head) forgot we were playing, and had set up three band to play. We were able to talk the other bands for us to play. Our set that was soppossed to be an hour long was cut down to twenty minutes, we had to give the band the money we made. Around 70 people came to see us and 5 people came to see the others. So our potential $300 was in the pooper. But we did play a good show

Funkranomicon's first gig at a very nice local establishment - the Crow's Nest in Santa Cruz. Hopefully we'll draw enough folks to get asked back. Either way, we'll groove hard and have a good time.

My band took it's first extended road trip a couple of weeks ago, down to Evansville, IN, where we played the burningangel.com (DEFINITELY NSFW) anniversary party. It was an interesting drive, and an overall fun experience. We played at the end of the night, after the burning angel girls had their dance party deal, so the crowd was sufficiently sauced (as were we). We played half the set, then the girls got on stage with us, so we went from our standard set into a ~10ish minute funk jam while they danced before we finished our set. It was an interesting experience, and we met and worked with some cool people. Moral of the story, if you get a chance to play with porn stars- TAKE IT.

Played a "Battle of the bands" last night. We had no intention of 'battling' just playing around and getting some stage time in. We show up at 8 along with the other two bands, but the promoter was at work until 1215.... So no one was there to open the doors of the club until 930, then it was only the bar staff and the bands and no one knew what was going on.

Instead of just leaving I arranged an order and our band play first so we could watch the rest of the night.

Soundcheck goes on, and the sound guy is like "Okay, im just gonna plug you into the DI box then the box to your amp" umm, "So your basically skipping my entire rig? and getting only my pickups?" i say, he replies "well yeah", Me: "So why did i bother looking for a Traynor YBA 3 and ampeg cab if your just going to skip that whole colour ?" so he looks at me and i suggest we just mic my cab instead and he FINALLY agrees after i explain to him how his DI box works and the reason i bought this tube head from the 70s and the colour of the ampeg speakers.

POORLY run show.. Or set was great, but the house was terrible. sigh....

Turns out they judged winner on numbers at the door.. we didnt win haha The totally number was like 10 people

Okay we played in a place called Bogey's in Clifton on Sat night place was packed because,they love the PHOENIXBAND when they come into town! I rocked the 70's Gibson Ripper this night. I haven't taken it out of the case all winter it is vintage and protected! Anyway the show was killer the band was tight as ever and the Ripper delivered it's normal growl and punch all night long. We played a bunch of request in set two and by the time we came off break Set 3 was only 3 songs and out it was already 2AM got home at 2:45AM ( love the close to home gigs). We are playing a big out door concert at The Green Wood Lake Airport in West Milford ,NJ on Sunday May 23rd it is being called a Battle of the bands with prize money for the top 3 bands. The first band goes on at 10AM and we rock the stage at 4PM closing out the concert so, we are stoked and ready to blow them away. We are not looking to win, we are looking forward to entertaining the crowd that is our main concern. We are a Tribute to Classic Rock Music and our Singer has the uncanny ability of sounding like the singers in the bands we cover. Our guitarist is one of if not the best in North Jersey, Drummer is Pro who has played with many big names including Dion. Keyboard Player is amazing and you know my story.So if you're free and in the area, come down and check us out! I'll be the dude with the bass around his neck lol... RTS

First set of weekend gigs as a "sub-that-will-turn-into-permanent gig-if-I-want-it" with [mostly] a bunch of guys I've played with for years. Should be an interesting deal.

Friday night at a nice club on the deck, Saturday night at an ampitheatre for a family show. Great weather forecast for a couple of outdoor-ish shows.

This has been a busy month for us, played Mohegan Sun Casino in Conn., then 2x at Mount Airy Casino here in PA. Last night we played for the opening party for a car dealer(!) ... hey its money... next weekend we have two concert gigs, one at The Sellersville Theater in Sellersville PA and the other at Mayfair, also in PA in Allentown.
Would love to meet anyone in the area, band name is The Main Street Cruisers.

My band -The Van Dams - is playing tonight at a bar less than a mile from my house. The place is called Molly McGuire's, and back in January we had our best, rowdiest gig there. A ton of people came out and they were into it from the first song. We're hoping it'll be even better tonight. We'll see how it goes...

The event was a bigger sucess than the organizers had hoped - going to do it again next year. Three Philadelphia news trucks were there, two radio stations, lots of people showed up. Over 1,000 people participated it the midnight race, and hundreds more in the 4 hour relay. We went on after a 5th grade band that had hundreds of ecreaming school-mate fans, a tough act to follow. The second set was going really well until the generator ran out of gas three songs from the end. The power going out lost the recording on the digital disc recorder, but the first set sounded great. Couldn't tell at the time since the monitoring was basically non-existent.

Never had this happen before. we've had volume complaints in the past (from guests, from staff, etc) but never have we had a volume complaint from another band We were upstairs in the party room and there was a band downstairs. Maybe some jealousy involved? And trust me, my band plays waaaay louder than we did last night as it was a small room and < 100 people.

Okay, We had a good show at the airport We went on at 3:45PM although the monitors were not giving us what we need to hear, the crowd going crazy after every song told the story! It was way up on the top of the state and we were surprised by are fans coming up all that way, but there they were supporting us as always which is very humbling. We rocked the place people telling us after wards it was our best show ever! So we walked away feeling good about it I got home around 6PM.Picture from the show here I am rocking the 70's All Maple L9-S Gibson The Ripper

Wonderful! Glad it was a big success. Sorry to hear about the power situation but, by the sounds of it, you accomplished more than you set out to do.My hat comes off to you! RTS
