Going to take another shot at this, on Friday. This time it's at an actual place of business, and not the back 40 on somebody's farm. It's outdoors at the Star Diner in the Kentlands area of Gaithersburg, 7 pm. They got a Tiki Bar, how can we go wrong?Lazylion said:

Lamours in Staten Island, saturday the 25th. We're playing with Into the Void, a Black Sabbath tribute that features former members of Sabbra Cadabra. They're opening for us, which is pretty cool, and we get to play one of the most famous clubs in NYC area. Anyone in the area who's free, c'mon down. I'll buy you a beer.

Played a fun gig Thursday night at the Jamhouse, a local club owned by Jools Holland. We had an alto sax player called Annie Hansen standing in for us, she played until recently with a Steely Dan tribute band called Nearly Dan who are very well known in the UK. She did a great job! The band went down well and a good time was had by all. 
EDIT I forgot to mention - this was the first time I've ever done a gig with my Geddy Lee Jazz. I've owned it about four years and played it at home, but Thursday I decided to gig with it as it had nice new strings on it and I was too lazy to change the ones on my regular gigging bass. The Geddy sounded great and I absolutely LOVE the super slim neck, but it doesn't have the tonal variety of my main bass (with a J-Retro pre) so I can't see this becoming the norm. Still, great to have all the options, eh?

Things were pretty quiet for awhile with my band heading into the studio last weekend but we had an outdoor gig lined up lastnight just outside of the city. Its a full weekend festival with baseball tourneys, volleyball tourney's and camping all onsite in this huge park.
Got there, and everything was basically good to go. We were playing the the beer gardens on a large stage with a huge PA system. Soundman was provided (and actually really good!).
Long story short, people were dancing 2 songs into the first set and by the end- there were people ontop of tables, chairs and on stage having a blast. Drinks just kept appearing and we extended our third set to an hour and a half due to the mass amounts of female's dancing up a storm.
We played quite possibly the tightest we had ever played and absolutely nailed the gig. Festival coordinator said they have never had people dancing in the gardens and booked us in advance for next year lol.

Didn't check in before but Saturday's gig was a bizarro gig.
It was an outside party on the patio thing at a bar. We get there, no stage, not even plywood, ground not level. No biggie we played many a backyard before.
Owner comes out, we ask him how have these been going? Well, he says, today is the first one it's not raining so I don't know but don't expect a lot of people to show on the first nice day in weeks. Before we start playing, he breaks out his calendar and books us another gig. Weird, usually they wait until after we play. Then - he pays us! Before we even play a note.
Then he tells us about the neighbor next door. Apparently he causes a ruckus whenever there's something going on outdoors at this bar.
We start our first set, I'm the singer too and I start smelling exhaust. So I'm singing and getting dizzy breathing in this exhaust wondering when the biker (or so I thought) was going to shut down his bike.
We end the song and I hear a two cycle engine running, constantly. Like a leaf blower or trimmer wide open. It was the crazy neighbor - I guess he didn't like our playing.
This goes on the whole set, engine running wide open, lovely exhaust smell.
After the set I go over to look through a hole in the fence and see what this guys up to.
3 feet back from the fence in the trees and brush I see him standing there - with a chainsaw! Running wide open. It looked like a scene from Texas chainsaw massacre.
Then he lunges at me through the hole in the fence! With the saw running!
Scared the crap out of me. I went inside to get a beer and I related the story to the bartender chick. She said looks like he threatened you, I'm calling the cops.
The cops came, asked me questions - told them the story. They know all about the nut job, he's left personal "presents" on top of peoples cars before.
We start our second set - the cops wait for him to start up again. Apparently he was stalking the the woods and they told me they got him and they brought him to the station. Not sure what they got him for as I didn't sign a formal complaint or anything.
The second set went much nicer without the chainsaw and exhaust.
When we were finished, the drummer hooked up his iphone to the PA and played Jackyl's Lumberjack tune - funny as hell way to end the most bizarre of bizarro gigs.

Friday night both my side band and main band played a little benefit gig for a local place called the Civic Media Center, which is a library/reading room for non-corporate media, and which also serves as a meeting place for lots of local political and charitable organizations.
We had to set up our PA, which I combined with theirs. When I got there to set up, I discovered that one of my PA columns had its input jack entirely sheared off, so the lead singer in my side band went back to our office to get one of his cabs. When we got it all put together we had two mains and two monitor cabs (one back with the drummer so he could hear the vocals, and one stage left as a side fill for the lead singer). We occasionally had some feedback problems during the second set, but given that I hadn't run sound in ages and cobbled together 2 PA's, it actually worked pretty well. The only things in the PA were 3 vocals and the kick drum.
It was lightly attended, maybe just a couple dozen people, but I talked Mrs. Krashpad into bringing my 12-year-old (Mrs. K was going to bring our daughter too, but she had a migraine), and El Krashpadito had a blast. He also took pics, and did a decent job for a little kid.
There was no A/C. It was sweltering in there, even with fans going. Dangerously hot. I was a little off the first set simply due to fatigue from loading in and setting up. The second one went better, minor tech problems aside.
Hoyt and the Hotheads (roots rock side band) opened, Crash Pad (punk rock and roll main band) closed. Questions welcomed and the usual comments on my poseritude expected.

Played my last show tonight at a friend's birthday BBQ. Played my Turner Electroline fretless into a Markbass F1 and one Euphonic Audio VL108 and was actually loud enough. It was a fun and low-key show, but a bittersweet one since I'm moving and won't be playing any more shows for a while.
