Chi-love Club

Cannot say how I like em yet, as she lands on my doorstep Friday or Saturday.
But whenever it's cool, I would take one of those ummm numbers brotha Markus :D
Looking forward to blowing framed items off the walls with this 44-07!!
And pissing off some neighbors as always of course.

My new hollowbody has landed! Man...this bass is perfect! Really lovin' the buttery, but defined tone!

  • US Lakland Hollowbody
  • Ebony board
  • Custom pickguard I designed over a year ago, but didn't have a Lakland Hollowbody at the time.

Good god man!!
Ya have to stop posting pics of this HB.
You are killing me quickly with G.A.S. pains...
I'm loving that bass....ei yi yi....stunning!
Funny thing is........I normally am not a fan of blue basses.
But on that one it just fits! Real class act bass!

Hey as a newbie to the chi sonic club, I bought that sky blue USA DJ, I'm having trouble finding technical info on these chi sonics. Are they singles, humbuckers, innovative design? WHats their noise canceling approach? How do they compare with other pickups? Thanks....

Alternatively you can check for the polepieces with something made of steel. A single coil has one row of four big poles, the humbucker has two rows of four.

Noise reduction for the singles is the cover and a backing of copper foil, but not all of the pickups come with the copper. I had to add it to mine and ground it. The humbuckers have the same and also are RW/RP coils.

That's Evan's old bass and those are definitely humbuckers in it. I've lusted after that bass every time it's been sold. AFAIK thats the only DJ with Chi humbuckers ever made. Enjoy and if you ever want to sell it.........

Hmm. They are big like humbuckers but I wrote Lakland about it and Brian replied that they were singles. Thus my confusion.

Well I remember him buying two US DJs with Chis. A natural fretless with singles and the Sonic Blue fretted with humbuckers. There was a question when he was ordering it whether or not there was room for the larger casings necessary for the buckers. The singles can obviously fit in either size casing. You can always do the solo pickup test. If it's dead quiet, it's a bucker.
