Chi-love Club

I've been following this thread for quite a while now, my basses have even been showed, but I've never asked for a number. So please, give me a chilove number!

I had a Lakland 44-01 with chisonics that I've sold, but this little puppy will probably stay forever:

It started life as a Squier Classic Vibe 50's P, but there's not much Squier left... Allparts teleneck with Gotoh tuners, CTS pots with orange drop and of course the mighty ChiSonic.

Absolutely love the sound of chisonics!

More Chi-Love.....this time an upgraded BaCHbird with ChiSonic Humbuckers!

Mmmmm... Very nice!!! Love it! Number 24 is all yours!

My new hollowbody has landed! Man...this bass is perfect! Really lovin' the buttery, but defined tone!

  • US Lakland Hollowbody
  • Ebony board
  • Custom pickguard I designed over a year ago, but didn't have a Lakland Hollowbody at the time.

Has anyone replaced Darkstars with Chi-sonics in the same bass? I'm assuming there isn't a Chi-sonic that takes up a similar physical space/route as a Darkstar? I love my Darkstar'd J for a certain tone, but it hasn't been a tone I've really used much for the last couple years and could see something between a Darkstar and a Jazz pickup being exactly what I'm looking for. Unfortunately there aren't many pickups that will fill the Darkstar route completely that I am aware of...

ChiSonics are wider across the strings, but not as tall from bridge to neck. The Darkstar route is deeper.

Thanks- The bass in question originally had J pickups, so the extra width could help cover up those routes which the DSs don't. I feel kinda silly even wanting to make the switch as the Darkstars sound so freakin good, but I am a slave to the GAS and these Chisonics appear deadly!
