Chi-love Club

Yeah, I used that yesterday w/ the side project band that just got re-ignited. We play a mix of styles, and the guitarist is older and likes more traditional bass tones, fretless usually (PMed you 'bout that and the pending trade for the Pentabuzz :hyper:). Anyways, he immediately spoke up when I panned to the front pup...."that sounds GOOOOOD, nice and clean" hahaha. Souped up P bass w/ a lil sumpin sumpin, is what I thought it sounded like :). I can't wait 'til the new Lakland steels go dead (don't like to toss new strings) so I can start experimenting w/ the MTD SS, Chromes, DR Sunbeams maybe.... tough decisions ahead. I used to play 100% DR Longneck stainless, now S.C. has inspired me to broaden my horizons, stretch out :).

Hey Markus, you messed around any with the mid switches? I'm curious as to what the diff settings will do to the dual humbuckers' voices. Don't have a "real" rig here, just a B-DEC. And, I usually don't have time at rehearsal to tinker. I leave my rig at the drummer's house.

Posted this pic in the Lakland owners thread, figured it should be here too. Maybe some other folks might wanna go for the double MM look??

I have Chromes on my Decade and love them! I have Bootsy Collins Coated strings on my 4-07, and really love them too! I'm not a steel fan, but these are coated, and it does a lot for them. I think both or worth a shot.

I have, and I went back to th edefault. Not because it didn't sound good, but because of my other basses, I felt the setting was perfect for variety.

Ok, I've decided. Before the year is over, I will have a Chi-equipped Hollowbody.

Does anyone have one yet? I really want to hear what it sounds like.

I don't have one, but I remember someone mentioning that the Decade sounds a little like the hollowbody because of pickup placement, but I'm sure the HB part does soemthing different to the tone. I'd love to have one too!
