CHICAGO - LAKLAND GTG!!!

Bill Dickens was there too. He absolutely shook the place apart with his Lakland bass while playing through a killer Thunderfunk rig.

Man I missed that, I had to leave before Bill started playing, his bass is killer, anyone know what the spec are? Hats off to Dan and the whole Lakland crew, they always make you feel at home and comfortable, just great guys!!!!

Here's a few pics I took yesterday. Tons o' fun (not me, the event :D)...

Hey, I remember that pose...Eli did a nice job picturetakin'!

I must admit, I don't follow Lakland that closely so the significance of the Glaub 5 is lost on me. Is there more to it than the fact that it's been in the works for a while?

Nice photos in photobucket too. Jauqo's lady friend was quite a trooper, arriving at the beginning and probably staying until the bitter end!

Turns out the thing I like the best about these GTG's is asking people if they'd like to play my fretless 7... and the reactions to playing it -- and the reasons why they'druther not... One notable answer was "I can only count to four."

Best quote so far from lowendgenerator before playing my pride and joy:

"That's everything I generally avoid in a bass."

You too Bill, I had a blast, and a TON of new GAS issues.

Awesome blackmail pic btw lol. My intonation was actually decent, but it was hard to get both hands on the same string! I've spent my whole life chasing skinny necks, and y'all throw THAT at me! Very cool day IMO. :D

yeh - that was sweet but I did not want to touch it! I "stop" at 5 banger fretless basses (at least for now!)...it sounded awsome! COnklins make good basses!

you live in Chicago - you know the drill.....if he told you, you would be wearing concrete shoes and "swinin' wd da fishies!"

Seriously - I believe the only "options" are the burled wood and the ramp (which I believe Bill added).

Nice to see you and to meet your son! I think Dan and Carl gave him some sound advice!!!

peace:

Doug

LOL!!!

Dan told us that the endorsee himself has been calling about it for a while... that'll light a fire under you, eh?

yup.....

Dan has been cautious about a 5 string P because he was not sure how much of a "real market" there is out there....the bass that Tom (Bigredsix) is playing is Mr. Glaub's himself.

also - turns out that getting a 5 string P to REALLY sound like a 5 string P is an art and not a science....that has been Lakland's struggle for several years....they want to get the sound THEY want - which has not happened with their own pickups yet.

the pickups in this bass (and the other 2 that are out there now) are Nordies....very nice....
