He's playing around at the end of the take ... that's cool. You can get rid of extraneous stuff later.

Your tone sounds great and I like how you slide down to the root note in the main part. In those sections, you're right on. On the bridge or chorus (not sure what you call it), you could step on it a little - sounds like you're waiting for the others a little before hitting your note. Don't forget, you're the bass player, the rest of them should follow your rythym.

But me likey, nice sound from everyone.

you play *great* on that one. My only comment is the same as before. On the chorus, with no drummer, you should be the one stepping on the beat and letting the guitars and vocals follow. But I *really like* the lines you're laying down here. I won't comment on the lyrics other than to say that we've all been there, some of us several decades ago. But lyrics aren't the bass player's job. What you're doing is really nice on that track.

With bass...

Thor. I lost my mom in 1976 when I was 16, my father passed three and a half years later just after I turned 20. I think of them every day... still. I'm 52 now, it never faded for me. My mother made an enbroidered picture when I was 10 or 11 that I really liked. She stitched ML down in the corner which was both of our initials. I still have it. The only thing that belonged to my father is a 1940's Bostich desk stapler.

My father loved technology and read Popular Science magazine every month. (I learned to read thanks to Popular Science. lol) He would have went crazy over home computers, the internet, smart phones, GPS units, ipods and many other things that we have around us. Every time I get or learn to use a new gadget I think of him.

In the early seventies all of us kids chipped in and bought him a handheld digital calculator. It was his favorite gift.

In my life I often wish I could talk to them and get their advice. I miss them terribly.

Thor's heartfelt story of his Mom touched me because of losing my Dad in 2003, and leads in to the "Poseidon" means so much to me that I want it on my bass.

I lost my dad suddenly in 2003. He was gone within 12 hours after his liver gave out due to damage from a diabetes medicine he took in the late 70's. My last moment with my Dad was when he was wheeled to the helicopter to be transferred to a bigger medical center. I told him that I loved him and to keep fighting.

After he passed my step mom gave me a box of my Dad's things. Pictures, tapes he made when he was in the Air Force stationed in Turkey in the late 60's, pictures, etc. the letters said that Dad went to Greece in leave a few times. I also got Dad's jewelery box with his watch (Which the alarmed beeped for 5 years at 6:00 am every morning with a battery that didn't have enough power to lite the display) his rings and this funny looking coin with a loop on the top of it.

I did some research and discovered that it was a Greek coin with Poseidon's head on one side and the trident on the other. I have had this coin around my neck ever since. I want to brand my refin bass Poseidon to honor my Dad, and let the music played through it honor him too.

So much to say...

Junk (aka very sweet basses) to ogle, bacon bourbon to crave, and group grope to partake in. All of you, consider yourselves thoroughly groped.

On a more serious note, I was surprised to read of how many folks on here have lost one or both of their parents. My heart goes out to you, I can't even imagine losing mine. It's so easy to assume they will always be there. Your posts did remind me to cherish the time I have with them and not take that for granted, so thank you for that.

You've heard me say it before, but let me say again that one of the things I love about this thread (aside from the twisted humor) is how openly we can share things with each other we wouldn't ordinarily feel safe/ comfortable sharing, especially in an internet forum.

I know that grief is a tricky beast - it sits dormant for awhile and then comes out to grab hold of you out of nowhere. As I read these posts, I hear many of you say that you are holding on to the reminders of the special people in your life that you have lost and remembering how much they meant to you, and honoring them in the things you save of theirs, the things you do, and especially in the persons you have become. It's the best any of us can do. I hope I can do the same when/if I am faced with that kind of loss.

And Thor, I liked the video of the jam session - those are the best, when you're just playing around/ loosening up, and somehow it all comes together.

That was a nice cut. Thanks for the nice comments too. i had another loss of an older woman week last who was good to me and treated me like family. Rather than send a card I sat down and wrote a real letter by hand with a fountain pen (yeah, old school) and told my friend all the things and reasons why i loved and cherished her mom. Mailed it today. I felt good about that. people throw out cards, but rarely throw out hand written letters.

Its me and my lady's one year anniversary today folks and I must say I just made a fantastic dinner and in a few we're heading out to Field of Screams, one of those haunted amusement dealies, and I'm scared! My dad took me to one when I was a little kid and it traumatized me so I haven't been to one since. Wish me luck!

here is a very rough copy of the one song that I have. we're basically recording them with bass and rhythm guitar so the lead guitar can write parts.

I do the bass lines on all songs that have bass. They were recorded LOUD, so should be heard that way. All original, very Tullish.
