So. You want some one to have compassion for you because of what you say you do for some those in need.
But you turn around and act like no human who has the ability to make mistakes and some times continue to make mistakes. There is no time frame on when a person changes for the better(if they do ever change at all. And believe it or not most do change for the better). You do not know what changes Chris Henry may have made in his life. Inner human growth takes a life time.
You would be surprise to find out how many tb members have made similar or even worse mistakes than C.H. and made a great change in their life.

Ya, you pretty much nailed it. And fo, I dont hate you or think youre an a-hole. I never claimed to be an easy person to understand, but what Jim said is fairly spot on to how I feel. A guy like that had the world in his palm. There are so many things he could have done with the opportunities that were presented to him, and what did he do? He became a low life. He didnt even have to help other people in my eyes to be a good person, he just didnt have to hurt others to stay in my good graces either.
First of all, I dont need compassion from anyone except those close to me. Secondly, my cold blooded attitude only extends to those whom themselves are self centered and cold blooded to everybody. Thirdly, what kind of saving do I need?
Do people change? Yes they do. Did CH have enough opportunities to make a change in his life? Yes he did. Did he take advantage of those opportunities? No he didnt.

Since his college days at West Virginia University, Henry has had a checkered off-field reputation. During his sophomore season, he was ejected from a game at Rutgers University due to multiple unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and was suspended for the season finale against the University of Pittsburgh. His former Mountaineers coach, Rich Rodriguez, stated that he was "an embarrassment to himself and the program" for his conduct.[16]
On December 15, 2005, Henry was pulled over in northern Kentucky for speeding. During a search, marijuana was found in his shoes. He was also driving without a valid driver's license or valid insurance.[17] He pleaded guilty and avoided a jail sentence.
One month later, on January 30, 2006 he was arrested in Orlando, Florida for multiple gun charges including concealment and aggravated assault with a firearm.[18] He was reported to have been wearing his #15 Bengals jersey at the time of his arrest. He pleaded guilty to this charge and avoided jail time.
On April 29, Henry allowed three underage females to consume alcohol at a hotel in Covington, Kentucky.[19] One of the three, an 18-year-old woman, accused Henry of sexually assaulting her; she later retracted her story and was charged with filing a false police report.[20] On January 25, 2007, Henry pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor violation of a city ordinance commonly referred to as a "keg law." He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, with all but two of those days being suspended.[19]
He was pulled over on Interstate 275 in Ohio on June 3 at 1:18 A.M. by Ohio Highway Patrol trooper Michael Shimko for surmised drunk driving. He voluntarily submitted to a breathalyzer test at 2:06 A.M. at the Milford Police Department and registered a .092 blood-alcohol level, .012 above the level permitted in the state of Ohio.[21]
On October 6, he was suspended by the NFL for two games for violating the league's personal conduct and substance abuse policies. NFL policies forbid Henry from taking part in practices, however, he was allowed to attend any team meetings. Henry missed the Bengals' October 15, 2006 game at Tampa Bay and their October 22, 2006 home game versus Carolina.[22]
The following April, Henry was suspended for the first eight games of the 2007 NFL season for violations of the NFL's personal conduct policy.[11][16] His suspension on the 10th came with a stern warning that future misconduct may result in the end of his career with the NFL. Henry was given permission by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to begin practicing fully.[23] His suspension was lifted and he played in the November 11, 2007 game versus the Baltimore Ravens, amassing 4 catches for 99 yards.
Henry allegedly assaulted a valet attendant at Newport on the Levee in Newport, Kentucky on November 6, 2007.[24] He was arrested for a second time in Orlando on December 3 for violating his probation he was on from a January 30, 2006 arrest. On February 21, 2008, he was found not guilty.
On March 31, 2008, Henry was alleged to have punched a man named Gregory Meyer, 18, and thrown a beer bottle through the window of his car. Henry claimed it was a case of mistaken identity and also that he thought it was somebody else that owed him money.[25] Henry was waived by the Bengals a day after this arrest and was then forced to serve a house arrest sentence.
Im sorry, but this kind of man does not deserve my sympathy, there are too many others in the world who deserve it more. If there is a God and Jesus/deitity, let them forgive him.

The reason this guy gets more sympathy (more like attention) than folks more deserving is because he is in the public eye. More people know who he is. The outreach for this guy (whom I've never heard of before he died) pales in comparison to the outreach that John Lennon, JFK, and other "more deserving" public figures received.

i feel so much better knowing that the guys that are out there stealing,raping,killing and all that other fun stuff will eventually tire of it and become "inner changed"....i just hope that the rest of us live long enough to see the results.....and i don't really mind that much if it's my stuff getting stole to finance their lifestyles....i'll just put in more hours to replace it....

No, he didn't have the world in the plam of his hand. He great talent and fat contract. Maybe you would have had the world in the plam of your hand if you had Henry's ability, but you are not Chris Henry. Neither one of us knows enough about this man to make informed judgements about his inner life.
Since you have lived in Congo and Uganda, you have seen young men who were born into horrible situations who have done horrible things far beyond anything Chris Henry may have been able to imagine. You may well have shaken hands, broke bread, or slept (in the room) with men who have raped, stolen, and murdered. As a man who has spent time in Sudan and Nigeria, and South Africa, I am know how blessed I am to have been born into some opportunity with educated parents, in the West.
Many of us in America do not want to admit it, but many in this country are born into incredibly negative situations that are not easy to transcend. Getting a sack of money of after a life of hardship will not instantly turn everything around. It is very easy to simply call someone a criminal because by so doing, we never have to look at the inequities within our own society. I would like to say that if I had met Chris Henry, I probably would have thought he was a jerk. If he had done anything to me or my family, at a minimum, I would have pressed charges. I am in no way defending him. I am saying that he had value as a human, and none of us is beyond improvement and redemption, spiritual or material.
At the end of the day, I don't think you are that different from Chris Henry. You are both young, you have both achieved some impressive things. You both have, or had, a lot to learn. I hope you get a chance to learn much more on this earth. You may never agree with my views, but you will look back see that you have said and believed things that you no longer would say or believe.
I'm not saying this to put you down. I've just been around the block a bit, and I know how life works.

Well, for me, I am certainly NOT glad he is dead or anything. But I could not care less, I didn't know him or anything. But, he got into a lot of trouble and was clearly at one point in his life a scumbag. Maybe he changed, maybe he didn't, but I don't associate with people with rap sheets like that, so I wouldn't have been a friend of his either way.

A lot of people are saying that he was "turning his life around". What had he done exactly? No runnings with the law in 6 months? Bengals are actually winning?
