All I can say is, when everyone who's being a complete schmuck about the loss of life in this thread... should hope they lived thier lives in such a way that when people speak of it in a positive light. Bashing the dead = classless act. No amount of humanitarianism can change that.

And glorifying scumbags like this does what?!* I guess pointing out that this guy was no less or more of a person that anyone, yet he gets media coverage and is billed as a "beacon of hope" makes me a schmuck.

*not you or anyone here particularly, but the media and their campaign to place those who deserve no glorification on a pedestal

Yep....

karma= a b****

Since when does karma involve speaking ill of the dead? The guy seemed like a genuine a-hole and it was his douchery that ended up getting him killed. Do you hold the same respect for someone who gets shot by the police and dies while robbing a bank?

Thousands die everyday for much more petty reasons. Not every person deserves that much respect.

I'm not going to require pics as evidence!;)

Alright, I hope we're cool on this. We can elaborate in PM's if you want. I value your friendship here, so I don't want anything to mess that up.

I'm going to bail on this topic and go back to talking NFL and college football with you. Both of our pro teams are stinking up the joint right now. :D

So basically this thread was a veiled attempt for Holy War to brag about all the good work he's done in Africa.

Yup, thats why I started the thread
Yup, thats why I said I didnt originally want to get involved in detail
Yup, I was called inhuman and something to do with having an empty soul
Yup, I made one post about it to defend myself and got called a liar
Yup, I made two posts about it in a thread of thus far 5 pages

Clearly thats what this thread is about
I saw that a football player who had broken some laws and had been a generally poor human being and had died, and said to myself, "self, let me go share about my experiences in Africa."

For so many reasons:

I'm gonna use the 5-grader argument and say Hitler was an a-hole. Call me classes, a schmuck, or whatever you want, but dying will not give anyone my unconditional respect if they never had it while they were alive. The loss of a life ,although tragic to some, is not always a bad thing.

This is sort of apples and oranges though.

Hitler is responsible for the extermination of 6 Million Jews (plus 4 or 5 million other people from different ethnic groups and social status)

Henry had some scrapes with the law (to put it mildly).

Not to split hairs but this post was your 14th post on this subject......

Yep. That about sums it up. Minus the starting the thread part. ;)

I must say, though, I was poking fun, but you did bring this upon yourself. You came and farted in a RIP thread and then get all butthurt when people called foul. It's cool that you didn't appreciate him, nor feel and remorse for his death, (there are others here who feel the same way), but the way you went about it resulted in all the flack.

Let me restate....Holy War caused this threaded mess, therefore...Holy War = Hitler

Chris Henry was a bit less evil than Hitler and Holy War, perhaps we should use Michael Jackson in comparison.

At the risk of eating my "don't have anything nice to say" statement,...

While I found Holy War's mission post a little pompous, self righteous, arrogant and hollier than thou (granted I first saw it as a quoted post and out of context, but 1st impressions are hard to shake); it was not megalomaniacal or genocidal.

Holy War > Hitler

Ok well I'm just going to give my view. I really don't feel that bad for him. His family and kids are the ones I really feel sorry for. He isn't the worst person by far, but he doesn't deserve the attention he is getting now. I have some sympathy for him but its a pretty small amount.

He may have been turning his life around, but the way this happened I'm not so sure he was. Once again I'm sorry for the family but not so much him.

maki, I know you were poking fun. Youre about the last guy I would get mad at on here (and no I dont hate anybody because of this thread). I just tend to have strong opinions and tend to voice them a lot, probably too much to be honest.
