I'm guessing that Mr. W has around $50,000 worth of gear. This is not an unreasonable cost for any small business person. Tradespeople (plumbers, roofers, house remodel/repair people. etc.) have to buy trucks, tools, liability insurance and liceneses.) at costs sometimes exceeding $50,000.

this might help video of his bass tech explaining the rig. this may have been posted somewhere but i didn't see it reading through quickly. I dont like that he doesnt do the pedals during the show... i guess its just easier the way he does it
Why? A few people have mentioned this. The guy plays on massive stages and does a lot of backing vocals nowadays. And with his tech doing it, the changes are pretty much perfect, if he was doing it he'd mess up once in a while, I know I would.
IS there a definitive answer to what is used on Time is Running Out? Sounds similar to "Deeper Underground" by Jamiroquai. That kind of smooth fuzz is something I've been looking for for a while.
Live he uses the Woolly Mammoth now, but I believe in my heart of hearts that the DI is it. Setting #1.
I can dupe the tone so well, that if you have a recording on through the PA, and I am playing through my rig, you can't tell the difference until the drums come in.

It is the DI. However, I can get pretty close with the Markbass Super Synth. I AB'd the Super Synth vs. the Deep Impact. While the Supersynth is missing the fourth Oscillator, with the program ability I can get pretty close.
I have the Super Synth! Would you care you tell me how to arrive at that sound, even via PM? If you don't want to though I understand.
