Working on installing the preamp and pickups today. Started off by shielding the cavity with copper foil. After that installed the pickups and bridge. I put a bit of wax on the tip of each screw before hand to help them go in more easily. I just scraped them over a little candle to build up a small coat. The preamp install is pretty easy. It's small and fits nicely in the cavity. The jack screws into the electrosocket which is then screwed into the body. Everything is in and worked when tested by touching a small screw driver to the pickups.

Working the frets today using a neck jig. I set the bass up in the jig carefully to protect the finish. Then get the fingerboard flat using a notched straight edge. Set the dials and do all the stuff you do with a neck jig...then tape off the FB and mark all the frets with permanent marker. Then level, remark the frets, then crown with a file. Polish up the frets with a series of fine sand papers (carefully, don't want to screw up the level) and shine em up with some polish. I got some tips from Harold about fretwork that has really helped me out. When all is said and done frets are level, looking good and can get nice low action.

Hey Saintmez,

I don't hang out in LC very much so this is the first I'm seeing this. I'm not a builder at all, so I don't have anything more technical to add, but this looks killer! I love the top! The other bass you have in stock on your site looks awesome as well. Nice job man!

Thanks very much Chapbass! I appreciate the compliment. This bass is quite close finally being completed with a nice set up and test play. I truly love the Audere with the Bart's. This bass is for sale so I will put up some sound clips as soon as I can to show what it's got going on.

Thanks Nidan. I'm a big fan of walnut as well. This bass has been done for a while and was stored away waiting to be sold. I will soon put up some final, better quality photos of it to put a bow on this build thread.

I'm hoping to get some higher quality photos taken with a DSLR camera next week. I need them for my website and Facebook page. I could post a few IPad photos if you like. I also want to make sure I get sound clips before this one goes. I failed to do that on the last bass I sold and regret it. It would help to have them as a reference for the different pickup/pre configurations I like to use.
