Clean The Grill Cloth or Not ?

I know this is slightly off topic....But I always have put a light coat of semi-gloss black paint on my black speaker grills. Dust/Dirt Gone!

i have used spot shot (home depot or the supermarket has it) or simple green with very good results on fender grill cloth. i wouldn't recommend using ANY type of brush on it (and especially NOT a wire one).

you can soak it with simple green, and then blot it with a clean terry towel after it emulsifies the dirt to remove most of it and repeat the process as necessary. or you can use a compressor and blow the excess off.

fender's grill cloth is actually very durable (it's mostly made of thick nylon fiber) and will not disintergrate or fall apart. the thing you have to be careful with is saturating the wood baffle as it can warp or expand and ruin it.

Will this work on pet urine? My girlfriends dog thought it would be a great idea to mark my combo. :scowl: I didn't notice it until it had dried.

I'm against this idea completely. A players amp is gonna be a little banged up and grimey. I think this is perfectly acceptable, and in many cases more appealing than a pristine amp that looks like it's never been used.

I got some Simple Green last night at the store and tried it on an area that doesn't show. That stuff is truly amazing! I have never seen anything take off smoke stains like that.

What I thought I would do is get some of those plastic "For Sale" signs and slide them up in between the grill cloth and the wood and cover all the wood as well as possible. Then spray-dob-hose.

Naw, you take that Carbon TET Brake Cleaner and fill a 10 gal pail half way.

You shove the dog in it replace lid and kick the bucket side to side to agitate for 7 minutes. Remove dog and allow to dry on the deck...

The dog will never piss on your gear again.

As far as cleaning your gear, your screwed.

glad it worked for you. it has always worked great for me too.

and sliding the plastic signs in front of the baffle sounds like a good idea to me.
