Jimmy says in the video that the weight difference is negligible because the body is thinner as well as wider. I am not sure of the sonic difference with a one piece maple neck but it is intriguing and since I've had to do truss rod adjustments no more then every six months on my other two basses I'm not going to be all that turned off by the bullet.

This is a 79 strat in Wine Red ,,this color was only used for two years and it's one of my favorites.

Nice. Chris Celinder produced some Update5's in that color. I love all of these 'trans type' finishes where you can see the grain of the ash through the finish. And, with these high end luthiers using the ash with all the beautiful grain in them, they look way better to me than the 'originals'. Cool!

Both the 5 strings (natural and trans red) have "hold" signs on them as of the end of yesterday.

The black 4 string is a shop bass and won't be for sale (per Jimmy) - but Oskar Cartaya was really diggin' that one. The trans red 4 is technically available but my friend Miko might be pulling the trigger on that one or the plum crazy LG4.

All the LM's are a bit on the heavy side but they sure sound that way. Just plain balls to the wall, tight and focused low end and the thick highs you would expect. Super basses. I love my new RA but I can't wait to get my LM.

Boy, I understand the 'heavy' deal with 70's J's, but I sure hope Jimmy doesn't make that a requirement for those ordering these basses. I can't imagine a bass that sounds punchier and fatter on the G and D strings (and E and B strings!) than my barely 9 pound LM. Heavy does result in a touch different tone, but different is 'different, not better'. After suffering for years with my 11 pound+ Celinders, I would never go back to that, and don't miss the tone or weight at all.

Jonno, I cannot get enough of your orange LM, it looks so badass.

As for your upcoming RA, it would probably be too close to your orange LM, but I love the way that fiesta red 5 looks in the NAMM photos. I think it is the one on Jimmy's site...the EUT5. The dark Alleva Coppolo sig on the headstock looks schaweeeeet!

Jimmy explained all of his recent design changes to the LM5 when I was at the show Thurs.- wider body, bulkier necks, shallower neck pocket. The 5-bolt neck attachment is still somewhat of a prototype feature, apparently. All the basses were great of course. I liked the trans red LM a lot.

Know very little about A-C instruments but was blown away by the NAMM video as well as the link to his shop; seems like a very cool guy (must be Italian as well which is a good thing in my book).

Clearly these are expensive hand made instruments; what is the approximate ballpark for a painted 4-string without exotic woods or finishes?
