"battery under the control cover isn't a big deal..."

It's not a big deal as long as threaded inserts are used on the control cavity.
Use of plain old wood screws into the control cavity really is a bummer; especially on a bass at this pricepoint.
No matter how careful you are, those wear out over time. ( end QUOTE)

Chef, thanks for your input you are totally right and Jimmy could not disagree. He is looking for threaded inserts but has not found them yet.
He told me by the time he finishes my bass ( march 2011) he probably would have a solution for this problem.

They shouldn't be hard to find. I can think of several other builders that use them, and McMaster-Carr stocks several varieties of these.

I saw a slick alterna-solution to this last week at the ST Louis TB GTG: that being use of magnets to secure the cover.

Nice.

No tools required, nothing to wear out.

Yeah, Dingwall does this, and I think Brubaker does it too.

Yeah, this is a really slick option. Here's the backside of my Dingwall SJ-4:

Diglo and Xkimsung,

I think we can start a CAOJ club!:bassist:

Could not hold my AC LG5 GAS any more so followed your advice and ordered my LG5 Standard today .
First i wanted a Aged Olympic White , but i was still flirting with the CAOJ . And you know what happens after flirting:D

LG5 standard
CAOJ matching headstock
Indian Rosewood freatboard
Hipshot bridge
Tinted gloss neck
AC two way EQ

Cant wait...

Man 12 months backorder time , its gonna be a long year...

Nice nice!! Congrats on ordering one and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I know it seems like a lot of LG5 owners have the Brazilian boards and I have yet to try any of Jimmy's Indian boarded basses, but I've tried a nice Suhr with an East Indian board and that bass was basically what got me hooked on the Jazz hahah.

SO, I'm SURE you'll love the indian on Jimmy's LG5.

But I do have to say I feel sorry that you have to wait for yours. I'm lucky since I only had to wait 2 or 3 months during my search on TB for one :hyper: [sorry for boasting but I was SUPER lucky to find my bass here on TB so I snatched it up before anyone else could even give it any thought ]

Anyways, hope you have some other bass(es) to satiate your needs until the LG5 arrives!

Hey "BOASTER" :D

Thanks for the congrats, i am really excited.

When i asked Jimmy for other optios for the fretboards and i told him that i wanted a 'well defined warm sound' suited for playing allround music, he told me to stick to the Indian rosewood.

Man you boaster :D
What AC did you buy on TB? Can you post a pic?

I am lucky to have a few basses to keep me company during the year . Although i cannot deny checking the classifieds every day!

To Vic :
Thats a nice rosewood neck , do you have a full pic of the bass?

You all have a great weekend!

Haha here you go, you can refer to this post for pictures.

I guess my model is basically the LG5 Classic Supreme from the model designation that Jimmy has now.

And I got the bass around this time last year I think. I'm not gona say the other basses I had weren't good because if I could have financially, I would've kept them all, but I sold my Roscoe to get my hands on the LG5 since it wasn't a chance I was going to pass up. And after getting the LG5, I ended up playing it too often, so sold the MTD 535 I had so it could be played proper by someone else who'd let it see more stage time. :bassist: [Normally for me, selling a bass would mean buying another to replace it, but at the time, and now still, I really don't have GAS for any other bass YET, so letting go of the MTD was a "just because" kinda thing for me]

I'm not sure if you've had the chance to try any one of Jimmy's basses, and to be honest, I dove into it on the hype and because the curiosity was just killing me, but I actually got to play the LG5 I have before making the final decision to buy [because so much dough was involved]. Let's just say, if anything, me getting the chance to play it before making that final decision, basically pushed me over the edge and I couldn't leave fellow TBer Xavidman's home without the bass :ninja:.

Yea sorry, I'm sure you don't need to hear me yappin about a bass you've already placed an order for, but just wanted to let you know where I was comin' from regarding me and my LG5. :hyper:

Thanks man , a friend of mine bought an LG 5 , so i am gonna pay him a visit and follow your "advice", knowing the outcome of the test :hyper:

Nice Pics of your bass, gonna put one of them on my Iphone and watch it now and than for one year :crying:

Decided NOT to take the bounded fretboard , as i agree it looks better with blocks.
