Compliments , on the pics already i can "see" the bass plays like butter ( pretty cool huh?).
Few Q:
Did you order the bass with the pickguard apart ( not installed) ?
And if you would decide to install it , you would have to drill holes i gues or is there some twosided supertape ( which leaves your poly intact).
Do you know Celinder bass necks?
I really like the way they feel ( flat on the back , not too much C shape).
Would you say this is the same with your LG5?

When you first got it, I was a proponent of "no guard". I have to say, the guard is growing on me. It beautifully compliments the fretboard...
+1...each time I see pics of this bass I'm more and more in the "guard" camp vs the "no guard".

Damn Vic, I never realized how well you could see the Alder grain on that baby...As much as I like the tort PG on there, I almost feel as though it would be a sacrilege to cover up that "rare" Alder grain

Yes, and yes. I did consider some kinda' sticky solution and even gluing some screw heads in place to complete the look despite no actual screws (and the guard fits so tight it would actually work well that way), but I'm still kinda' in the same place I was when I first got the bass... I love the look with the guard, but still I love the look just slightly more without, and then there's that whole screw hole into the pristine finish thing too.
I know some Celinders, but the ones I've felt were more of a medium C whereas my LG is a shallower C (which I really like better). I owned a really nice Celinder Update 5 for a while, and have played a few other Celinders, tho only briefly. I'm trying to remember, but I think the RA's at NAMM were a bit deeper, but the LM's were more like mine.

You hit the nail on the head. While the grain is not as pronounced as it would be if it were ash, it is, IMHO, a very particularly nice piece of alder... otherwise that guard woulda' been on there a while ago.Damn Vic, I never realized how well you could see the Alder grain on that baby...As much as I like the tort PG on there, I almost feel as though it would be a sacrilege to cover up that "rare" Alder grain

It does kinda bug me the way Jimmy's guards have the notch for the control cavity cover, but no cover (on the top), but then again, the "no guard" look doesn't seem quite right, either. I'd probably just go with the guard, too.

BTW, I had that thunderstrk dude do a mockup where that cutout is more rounded to follow the shape of the knob instead of the angle of a missing control plate, and as much as I THOUGHT that'd look a lot better, I'm not really convinced it does.
Kinda' like Ken keeps saying, I think it's just part of the look you have to come to terms with... like the headstock shape. Besides, with the full control set, that'd be one fugly control plate.
Funny cause I was about to BUT I dig your bass with out the pick guard more....I would yank the frets,put on a bent plate and call it a day...Just haaaaaad to go there, didn't ya? Heck, I'm surprised you didn't give me crap about not having the pickguard on there, or maybe the BAV bridge...

I definitely see your point on that. This bass would make a completely phenomenal fretless. Seriously.Funny cause I was about to BUT I dig your bass with out the pick guard more....I would yank the frets,put on a bent plate and call it a day...
No friggin' way. First, I suck at fretless (at least by my standards, tho others have said I sound ok), and second, even if I would be looking to get an AC fretless, I'd definitely leave this one alone and just buy a new one with no lines. I LOVE the no-line look! Admittedly tho, it'd be pretty much identical to this one except for that.

I persoanlly dig the way the lines look and if you dont have perfect intonation the lines are a HUGE help!
