Totally OT.. .nothing to do with A-C basses. As much as I like talking about gear and tone and the impact of this and that, sometimes you just need to say F*** it and PLAY.

Since there are so many PLAYERS that hang on the A-C threads, this is some of the heaviest s*** I've heard in a while.... amazing.. from Herbie's new 'Imagine Project' CD. Definitely worth listening through to the end IMO!

OK... I don't want to start a massive OT on the A-C thread, so back to the Alleva's. Here's a picture of the RA I had (since that topic came up) that is now happily owned by another TBer. It's the only RA without blocks and binding that I'm aware of, and is the bass in the clip I posted a few posts back.

The CAR finish is among the best I've seen, and there is beautiful figuring (swirls, etc.) on the board that are really brought out by the gloss poly finish on the neck and board.

I thought you might enjoy the picture. It is a fantastic instrument, and visually, it is one of the prettiest J basses I've ever seen.. the picture doesn't do it justice. That figuring on the neck and board is really pretty.

Glad you are still digging it!

Hi all, I just got my LG5 and strings are too high for my preferences. I tried to drop the saddles a bit but since the parts are so small I can't find appropriate tool. Is it a hex key and which size, 0.9 mm? Any help appreciated! :)

Assuming you have the standard hipshot bridge..... standard .050 inch hex.

One thing to realize when you are setting up your AC; that unusually low radius board results in you really needing to drop the G and D strings (and even the B a bit) from what you are probably used to. If you follow the contour of that board, these things play like a dream.

yeah, but if it's not in there, it's totally no big deal. It's most likely a .050 allen key, and if not, most likely a 1/16". Either way, it's cheap and easy to find at any hardware store, but I'm betting most folks already have allen key sets laying around somewhere anyway. I have like a pile of these things at this point. :D

He's in the EU... not sure how available non-metric hex's are over there. Again, it is a .050" for the standard hipshot, if he can find it.
