Jason and I liked the tone of the LM's much better through the Markbass F500 (much punchier, tighter and meatier up top), but the point of the hang was to mess around with the Streamliner, which sounds good in a different way... warmer, fatter down low, with more 'give' to the feel, but a little too 'hollow' for a 70's style J IMO. I do not gig with that rig and the LM.
With a P bass.... that's a totally different thing. For those of you with the A-C P's who like a 'relatively clean but very all tube tone', the Streamliner/Berg combination is a thing of complete beauty! Massively dynamic in feel, and super meaty and fat down low, with just the right amount of mid grind for a P with nickels or whatever.
+1...The Streamliner is really smooth in the upper mids, which is right where the grind is with the LM5, so through that setup I felt like there was something missing. But man did it sound good with the P bass!
I'm wondering how the Streamliner would sound with a 60's spec jazz - Ken have you played your LG5 through it yet?
@ Kjung : Waiting for the Streamliner 900 to arrive.
Right now i use the Shuttle 9 with two Aguilars GS 112
and i like it. Guess the Streamliner is more warm and fatter
in the lows?
Cheers Anil
Hey Guys,
I wonder if anyone has experienced the Tom Barney 5 model
from Jimmy?
Bassicly its a 60's pickup spacing bass with a 18 mm spacing
at the bridge. Maple or rosewood fretboard.
I remember Jimmy had a CAOJ Tom Barney 5 during
Winter Namm and there was a maple neck 18 mm spacing
Aged oly in the classifieds?
Any reponse is welcome.

Hi Bacco,
I tested a RA5 at the past NAMM show with the 18 mm spacing... This bass was awesome... The playing was a pleasure, very fast neck and the tone like all the Jimmy basses; to die for!!! Totally recommended!!!
Check the pic!!!

Considering I spend a lot of time playing old G&L's, the A/C headstock has always actually appealed to me...
