thanks Y!! pics this week. and yes, acb0015, i know the feeling! jimmy and i had the conversation about building a 6, for 6 approx. years! we knew each other almost 20 years in nyc and i lived across the street from his hell's kitchen shop, so it was an ongoing discussion-point at many of our hangs. i'm really glad that he's very happy with how this model fits his aesthetic, and i think it's an instrument that will do well for him- 34", 19mm, classic vibe, bolt-on, amazing sound, handcrafted. a great new addition to the AC lineage.

Hi, I'm looking for a hardcase for my AC1600. I found a newly released waterproof ATA/TSA injection molded case from SKB.

I am not sure it will fit the bass since AC's headstock is a bit bigger than the Fenders. Is there anyone tried this?

I finally got my LG5 out this weekend to a gig. The bass sounded and felt great. I was a little worried about the slightly heavier weight (relative to my Sadowskys) but I barely noticed it. The bass sounded full and punchy across a number of styles. And darn, does that surf green look cool under stage lights! Something about that nitro just glows

What's the deal with the HIPPY DIPPY TRIPPY bass?
Is there the same wait period for these basses or are they available almost immediately? On the site it says available through the online store.

I did at the NAMM show, and while that's not the best environment as you know, it sounded and felt great to me. I would assume the simpler process carries a shorter wait time in addition to the lower price tag, but I'll let those closer to Jimmy verify that.
Hey Pete ... these are a cool alternative for someone who wants an AC at a cheaper price point, with a (water based) oil finish, passive bass with a much shorter order time (ask jimmy for exact).
I think they're alder/rosewood/60's like an LG5. They're only sold through the website.
I've played the one from NAMM & it's a cool version of what Jimmy does. It's a bit darker sounding without the nitro or poly and has a different kind of bite without the pre-amp.
You kind of have to play one to "get it" ... you know?
Oh snap, an AC that I can afford?! Oh boy... this is dangerous.

Haha, it's true that I move through stuff pretty quick but I know exactly what I want now and I don't quite have it yet. Well, that's not entirely true. I'll have my dream fretless in a few weeks now gotta work on the fretteds

Good luck Joel. They don't come up often or cheap. I ordered mine in spring of 2009, at the time a deluxe was $4500. I know the prices have gone up since but not sure how much, anyone know the current new price? Curious you said your LG was "heavy" what's the weight on that one and how heavy are you willing to go on the LM.
Mine is not for sale but your welcome to come and play her anytime you want.
It's actually not "heavy" per se. It heavy relative to my Sadowskys -- which are all feather weights (8 LBS.) I'm guessing the LG is 9 LBS or just a hair over. I'll weigh it though and see.
It's actually very manageable. It's funny how our perspective changes on weight as we get older. Years ago I'd play an 11-12 LB bass and think nothing of it. 10 years ago my rack weighed 80 LBS... today I don't want to lift a cab if it weighs more than 50 LBS!

I think that bass is 8.9 pounds, give or take. Can't quite remember... lighter than my LM, heavier than my Sadowsky.
