Does anyone know which Aguilar Cab he was playing thru, looks like a DB210, but it could be a DB212, its hard to tell, anyone that was at the show want to chime in?????

That's an Aguilar DB210 at the NAMM booth.
I have 2 GS112's and that cab is making me want to go back to the DB's. Seems to work really well, if not better, with Jimmy's basses and same goes for the AG500 compared to my DB750... Man I can't wait for my Tone Hammer 500!

Funny you say that cause I have been digging my AG500 GS410 over my DB750 with Jimmys basses as well lately...same goes for the AG500 compared to my DB750... Man I can't wait for my Tone Hammer 500!

I'm not sure I would have agreed with you until this last Christmas when I got the heaviest 5 string bass I've ever owned. In fact, it is heavier than at least 3 of my 6 string basses, and yeah... it really has meat.back to basses.....haha

In fact, and I'd love to know your opinion on this Joe, I'm thinking of using a lighter gauge string on this heavy bass to help me control its boominess.

By the way, I just loved how Marcus settled into that bass and made it his own. At first it sounded like he was playing A bass... then he got a feel for how it played and the nuances of its tone, and seemed to really lock with it, you know?back to basses.....haha

Somethin about Roto's that I can't seem to get away from on an Alder/RW Fender type. Everyone hates them and says they don't last, but my used Roto's are brighter than my new Low Riders, and they maintain a nice mid range to boot. Most others I've tried are either too scooped or so mid-rangy they lose a complex top end.

How heavy?
Unless that heavy bass is spec'd identically to your other 5 strings, I would be VERY careful attributing all the tonal difference to the weight. Remember, Marcus's 70's J relatively lightweight
i like rotos, i just hate this gauge. theyre considerably thinner sounding. thats all the shop had though and they were free for working on someones bass so i didnt say no!
