I hardly post anymore but im in for the new thread!

Here are my Twins! Classic Supremes!
The LG is my tour bass for its versatility. It has some SIGNIFICANT wear that didnt come thru on this pic... but i have two spots that i have worn thru the finish. One where I rest my thumb and the other where the inside of my arm rests on the top corner of the body. Still small but wearing more and more.. I LOVE IT!!!!

My Pbass is a studio KILLER. It literally gets 90% of all of my studio work. That one is still in MINT condition since it never leaves the studio. Ive tried to convince myself to sell it but I ALWAYS come to my senses! THANK GOD!

We are gonna be doin some heavier touring this year and i was planning on getting a backup bass to leave these at home.. But seems like ill be running these into the ground.. Hahaha

The story on my two is that they are from the same BATCH of woods (old growth alder and dalbergia). Two basses, same owner..I suppose only jimmy could confirm that statement. But these two are definately "special"..

My LG is getting some sexy wear.. Since i dont really plan on selling them.. I dont mind it... The yellowing effect on my LG is definately progressing nicely.. Hahaha

Why would you ever want to sell that P?
I don't really get the whole thing of buying A/C's and then selling/swapping them back and forth. To me they are lifetime instruments and just get better with age. I say pick one, or a few, you like and then stick with it (them).

Thats pretty much where i am now... These are on lockdown! i wanted the 5string version.. But this one is pretty darn special.. Plus i have a 77fenderP but its a different beast... I prefer the AC!!

The 3 boards together are Indian.. and the one that is solo is what i we've been calling Jimmy wood... Its like many properties of DN but its not..
Also this is the lightest weight and lightest color he could find.. I want to have it light in color just so i eliminate any possible DN hassle at customs when i travel..
And i really need a Jazz bass.. badly

Kirk

What kind of rosewood are they?

I hear you on that -- I prefer my KBP4 to the '63 Fender P I bought from Jimmy back in 2001.

They all look good Kirk. I hear you about wanting a lighter color. I like the look KD darker boards but, to your point, the lighter colored pieces would be much better for traveling with.

Kirk I think you should be fine traveling....I've been doing a ton of international flying lately and not a single person from customs has even cared to look at my bass....ive heard from more than one source that the whole Lacey Act thing was just a personal vendetta against Gibson anyway so go for the dark! Haha actually the lighter jimmy wood looks amazing and should sound incredible

Thinking of "B" FB or the lighter one in PIC 2.
Should have no hassles in customs over lighter wood FBs

One of my previous ACs has a board so dark it looks like Gaboon ebony!

I like them like that anyways...

I've not really been a huge fan of Indian generally until Jimmy's basses....I still like DN but the Indian on his basses sound just as authentic to that version of the old Fender tone as anything else IMO.

Heads up Mitch- one Canadian Customs agent recently asked me what woods were in the bass I was bringing over.....only one reason for asking that. I dont think she was just a "bass fan" either :). There was no Brazilian in that bass so no problem.

I think you are right though that its still a lower risk overall. But there is still an issue out there and it might get worse- you never know.

A friend of mine has vintage Ps and 2 KBP5s.

One of the two KBP5s basically out- Fenders the Fenders!
