I think you are right though that its still a lower risk overall. But there is still an issue out there and it might get worse- you never know.

I sent a KBP4 from UK to USA and the FedEx guy who collected from my house asked what woods the bass was made from.

He didn't really have any interest in the answer and said I could say anything I liked but does show there's some instructions out there for shippers to watch out for certain types of wood.

Hey guy - I'm really stuck between an RA4 and LM4.

I know the tone woods well and the RA4 will be a touch 'sweeter' sounding due to alder's tone. But the LM seems a lot more popular -of course - the classic ash/maple combo.

To throw a munkey wrench into it all - I own and love my Sadowsky UV70 (ash/maple).

What to do....:bawl:

General thoughts?

When in doubt, buy both. :)

But, from what you're saying, I think the LM will be a better fit. They're both great instruments, but I'm guessing the LM will be closer to home for you, and probably work better for you.

IMHO.

The link from the old club post, part 18, didn't work for me; it just left me at the general talkbass.com url.

It reminded me of when I graduated high school and left home. A year later I thought I'd surprise my mom and came home without telling her I was coming.

I walked into our house and yelled, "Mom! I'm home!"

To my surprise, my family had moved and didn't tell me, and I'd just walked into someone else's house house (to our mutual terror).

But I found you guys in the end!

Thanks, Mitch. A friend made it for me. He etches the images on the UNDERSIDE of the ramp so it never gets messed up by playing.

He made me an Alaska ramp too, but I use the Tom one now. I like using a bass clef for the T in my first name, and an eighth note for the P in my last name. I've been signing my name like that (at times) since I was 16, and never grew out of it I guess.

Just got these vids back from a session I did a few months ago in NYC that we had a bunch of film dudes come and record....I had literally just gotten my TB LM5 so I was still workin the kinks out but here's a clip of one of my solos so you can get an idea of how the LM sounds
