Actually this is the first. The NAMM bass prototype. It's before Lee got his. It is silver in there- but Jimmy was unhappy how it showed in photos so Friday he filled it back with black.

Gentlemen - meet my new weapon of choice. Picked up this LM5 Saturday afternoon from Jimmy's shop, then raced into LA for 3+ hour rehearsal followed by a 4+ hour gig and this work of art absolutely destroyed. This is the first instrument since a fodera emperor I got in 1992 that I really "connected" with right out of the gate. The sound, the feel, the versatility, the craftsmanship, the look, everything - it is perfect. I am completely blown away.

What Jimmy Coppolo did for me (and does for many others) is remarkable - he made me a bass that enables me to express myself fully, and in any situation - critical for a guy who plays for a living, like 300 gigs a year, plus session stuff. It is inspiring. I cannot put it down.

I get Jimmy's reputation. It is well-deserved. If you are lurking in this thread like I did for a while and considering the AC plunge, I can only quote Ahnold: Do it - Do it now!

Thanks again to you guys for pointing me in the right direction and helping me out. I'm eternally grateful.

Contrats Steve, That is a beautiful LM5. Love the grain too!

Both my LG5 and KPB5 played and sounded great last weekend. Looking forward to an outdoor gig this weekend.
Hope the weather holds out. I'll be taking both basses
again for this gig. :hyper:

Congrats, just wondering, with so many waiting on their basses to be built and a two year waiting list, who's bass did you get? How did you get to cut to the front of the line? Put my name on there. Lol

What happened was that Jimmy was almost done with 2 basses he was doing specifically for retail - 1 for bass San Diego and 1 for the trade shows. They were already in finish when I got to them. He hadn't decided which to send to SD when you guys pointed me in his direction. I called, went out there and saw what he had, and it just turned out that the one I picked was pretty much exactly what I was looking for anyway (70s all the way). Blind luck that I couldn't have planned better.

I was *this* close to the other one, too. Wait until you guys see it - gold paint, to have a tort guard. Thing looks like the bass Iron Man would use. It's going to be killer.
