I know you gotta be happy, and I believe you now have the most all inclusive AC family...it's very drool worthy!

So, now for the question that's been on my mind since you 1st announced the KPB5.
I know with the KBP4 you can choose between A, B, or C nut width, so I've been wondering how Jimmy decided what to do with the KPB5? What's your take on it, and do ya think the measurements on your prototype will be the standard or will jimmy continue to tinker (like he's always doing)? =D

I actually switched my order from an LM-5 to a KBP-5. My initial plan was to keep my LG-5 strung with flats and string the LM-5 strung with rounds. After putting rounds back on the LG-5 for a Friday gig I decided I'd be better served with flats on a KBP-5.

That makes a lot of sense! Flats on a KBP-5 is the stuff dreams are made of. I am also tempted to try flats on my LG5 once it comes. But I'll start with round wound for openers to see how much old school burp and growl I can coax out of it!

On a side note I have a appointment with a guy here in Portland who does reviews of gear for bass musician magazine (online mag) for him to review my 2 alleva's next week. Should be fun to see the axes up on the net in light and scrutinized.

As I await the build of my LG5, I thought I'd ask if collective wisdom here says Nitro finish offers a sonic bonus over poly finish? Jimmy says Nitro 'breathes'. I've heard that before. And the way he said it made me think it was clearly better. Breathing is good. ...right? But how much difference would the thin Poly finish make on an LG5?

The other factor that made me opt for Nitro is because Jimmy said a 3T sunburst actually 'Pops' better with the Nitro finish. Tommix's LG4 just blows my mind and pushed me over the edge to not only a 3T sunburst finish, but also a Nitro finish.

What do you guys know?

I don't know nothing. Though, there are alot of top builders who say that nitro makes a difference, so I'm inclined to believe in them.

I know alot of people have strong opinions about this topic, but when we put our faith in a certain builder, I think we are pretty confident in their work and their ideas.

After talking with Jimmy, I gathered that "breathing" allowed the body to resonate in a fashion most like a vintage Fender. Jimmy really seems to like the combination of a Nitro finish on the body, and a poly finish on the neck. I love the combination on my RA5, that's for sure.

On another note, there seems to be a growing number of us waiting for basses. Any tips from the experienced on how to wait patiently for a AC bass to arrive. Do good waiting strategies involve:

Thumb Twiddling?
Periodic phone calls to Alleva Coppolo to ostensibly discuss details?
Alcohol?
Digging through all AC posts on this forum (or others) to look at AC basses that may or may not resemble what you ordered?
Checking out all the tunes on CD that you plan on playing with your new AC?
Sudden overwhelming interest in your local sports team?

well we all know jimmy will continue to tinker..
The kbp5 is just the big sister to my 4 string... which is really two of my favs a '63 jazz neck on a lightweight P body with an extra fret and custom pup winding..
Some one always wants a "C" neck so he made them..

Passive as passive goes... somehow it works with almost anything...
The neck on the kbp5 is the same as the LG5 with a choice of rosewoods.. After messing around with different profiles the LG neck was just too nice to even mess with i thought...

the hard part was waiting for the vintage bridge to be ready from the metal fabricator... and the Pickup.. that is the long time wait.. we prototyped a few versions....
It looks like everything is etched in stone right now... you could still have the option of Vintage bridge or the standard Bridge.. Poly or Nitro... So far I am really digging what he did with that Pickup.. it growls and for a P pup thats some serious doo doo.

if you are getting the 3T Sunburst.. get nitro.. its the only way it will look as nice as tommixxs

Yeah there's that I'm also going to try to do Sibelius tutorials for about 30 minutes a day, and learn a new song every day until the new bass arrives. Hopefully, that will keep me profitably occupied until the new bass arrives. Might even improve my practice habits.

its funny you should say that.. I was talking with jimmy and he knows i sold my Pedulla fretless a while ago...

At this point in my life i really want less stuff... I said ok only if it does not require a battery.. hahhaah

So lets see what happens.... I do need a fretless after all .. right?
nahhh thats why i sold my pedulla.. I used it alot in the 80s and 90s but it got no work the past 7 years... so it went up on the block.. so i did cut tracks for a guy the other day at my home studio and he emails me and said can you do that on fretless.... uhhhh yeah i said.....
