nahhh thats why i sold my pedulla.. I used it alot in the 80s and 90s but it got no work the past 7 years... so it went up on the block.. so i did cut tracks for a guy the other day at my home studio and he emails me and said can you do that on fretless.... uhhhh yeah i said.....

So what exactly is the magic of Jimmy's basses that so many players are abandoning their extremely nice instruments making their Alleva Copollo's their "number one" instruments? I hear this over and over as guys get their Alleva's. It must be that Jimmy is installing a secret "Ultra Awesomizer" in his basses. :D That's it.

I've been listening to some of my favorite music with vintage Fender bass tones and then I listened to that Paul Turner Jamiraquai video with his Alleva again. Man, the vintage sound that comes from his fingers through his White LG5 is just sooooo freakin' sweet.

You aren't kidding! Knowing that Paul ran his bass completely passive! What a tone... :eek: The B sounds incredible on that bass too.

Anyone care to lend me a time machine that will jump to this summer...? :D

For me it is the neck and the tone. The neck on my 4 is just like my old Fenders but with an immaculate fret job and no dead spots! The tone that comes from this thing is just amazing. No matter what rig I use, it just sounds awesome and is truly inspirational to play. The Sadowskys are no slouches, don't get me wrong, but I definitely prefer the neck and the tone of the Alleva for most of the stuff I do. To be fair, both Roger and Jimmy are Master craftsmen with different design goals in mind. Jimmy is going for a true vintage "Super 60's Fender Jazz" (in the case of my 4) and Roger is producing more of a Fender inspired "Modern" Jazz with 60's (in the case of my NYC Ultra Vintage 4) appointments. The result is the Sadowsky sounds like a Modern bass (Not Fendery at all to me) and the Alleva sounds more like a Vintage Fender but plays like the best boutique money can buy!!! Hope that helps!

It has been raining and cold here for like a week now and I am hoping to get some pics outside in the sun...I will get a bunch if the sun ever decides to come back out! These will have to do for now...

Aaaaargh!!! Your Alleva is just MIND BLOWING TOM! ( and it was the last straw I needed to make the decision to place my order for what is essentially your bass ...in a 5'er! I'll thank you in 5 months and 28 days. Lol ...sigh

Everybody who has seen it in person just freaks out over it! My drummer told me it was the most incredible instrument he has ever seen Monday night, I would have to agree! It is unbelievable how nice this finish really is! The guy is definitely a master with Nitro. I suggest getting the beveled guard to if you like it. I was excited about it and then when I saw it I was knocked out by how it turned out. It really sets off the outer finish. The wait is really not that bad....:hiding:

I would not have chosen Nitro had it not been for seeing your 3-T Sunburst in Nitro Tom. Jimmy told me the Nitro finishes seem to "Pop" more (visually) than a Poly finish on a 3T Sunburst. From what I've seen, that could not be more true. And, ...well, your picture is worth a thousand words. That baby POPS!

I totally agree about the bevelled PG. It looks right at home! When the time comes, I want to ask Jimmy if he can find a similar, wispy/swirly tort figure like yours. Your particular pickguard is as exceptional as the Nitro 3-T finish. They just complement each other sooooooo well! Wow!

I am SO glad I saw your bass Tom. And thank you for sharing your experience with me via PM's. I want to include my thanks to others here like Kirk (SVT), Bernie, Mikebass and KJung. It will be an honor to be in the Alleva club with some very cool bass brothers. You guys are the best. :D

That is the most beautiful 'vintage style' finish I've ever seen. That's a special bass.

I am glad it was as inspiring for you as it is to me. I was holding it at a rehearsal Monday night and the Sax player said "you 2 look good together" I didn't realize I was hugging it....LOL!
