I had a bunch of requests recently to put back up a few Baer ML112 clips. Since one of them featured my beloved LM5, thought I'd just put a link to that clip over here.

This bass sounds so friggin' good. I use Hi Beams, basically plug it in to the relatively neutral sounding Markbass F500 set pretty much flat, engage the bass boost on the wonderful A-C pre between 10% and 20% depending on the room, and play. About as hassle free on a gig as can be! Front of house guys love it with a simple pre EQ send from the amp's DI.

I continue to love that 'refined but relatively faithful' classic 70's J vibe. Bass is at that perfect 9 pound + a little weight, and the neck is as stable as a piece of granite.

The clip is more about the ML112, but that is a pretty good neutral tone platform to hear what the LM5 sounds like IMO. If you have decent phones, the sound quality is IMO quite good (recorded with the Zoom Q3)

I just received my first AC yesterday and it's a beauty. I'm so impressed with this bass. My only concern before receiving it was the narrower spacing, being most comfortable with 19mm. I did a minor set-up and after playing it for the first ten minutes, my concern disappeared. It is so easy to play and the slightly slimmer neck is extremely comfortable. What I've heard about these basses is true. This bass is new, but right out of the box it felt broken in and I was right at home.

whats the story on the burst on the neck? id love to try one of these tb spaced basses. 1.75 nut?

For any of you with new A-C basses Id love to hear what you think of the new strings that Jimmy is testing out.. (green wrap). I put some of the flats on my P, and was unsure at first if I liked them or not. I had been using Pyramids and loved them, but felt the life had gone out of them so, now im on the A-C strings. Now, I think i love them! it took a couple days with them but now its a go! Anyone else like/dislike them?

Dunno... send me a set! :)

Thanks.

I should have mentioned that I bought it from Chris at Bass San Diego. So maybe the burst finish is something they custom ordered or maybe Jimmy just wanted to try something different.

Also beforehand, I informed Chris of my concern about the bridge spacing and he contacted Jimmy who had just received a small batch of his new bridge (19mm). Jimmy said it has the same bolt pattern as the Hipshot bridge currently on my bass and that he would reserve one for me in case I preferred the wider spacing (and since his future bridges would have a different bolt pattern). Great service right there.

Wow. Nice!

So why the narrower spacing if you prefer 19mm, which is Jimmy's standard?

Also, interesting finish on the back of the neck. Beautiful. What is that about.

Thanks.

By the same token, I'm not sure what his "new bridge" is about, so keep that in mind, but...

My LG5 Standard has a bone stock 19mm HipShot B bridge, and it looks like yours is also a HipShot B (at least I can't visually see anything custom about it), so I'd expect that to bolt right up too, if you just wanted to get off-the-shelf parts.

The only thing you'd need to know up front is if yours is aluminum or brass, so you'd get the right one to maintain the same "tone/feel".

.708 string spacing is 18mm, .750 is 19mm.

FWIW, anyway.

Yeah, send a set of nickels my way and I'll let you know

I played that Bass when I was down there a couple weeks ago.....the first thing that struck me was how these basses have such a "played in" feel. I still like the necks better on my Nordy, but there's definately something really cool going on with Jimmy's basses. Congrats and enjoy!

I did some gigs with guitar player George Lynch last week .. I am very grateful for that meet up.
The producer of the shows asked me to play on some tracks today for the Dangerous Guitar website...
Real nice bunch of folks! I wound up using my Alleva Copplo kbp4 "poudah" bass with flats on it.. Flats for Metal do work..real well as a matter of fact..
Im having a bad hair day so no pics of me.. lol

Sweet P man! :)
My AC EUT5 ('70's jazz 5, nitro, maple board) is STILL my No.1:thumbup:
It comes to 95% of my gigs & usually gets used most on those nights too. It just does it all beautifully.
Tough room- it works better than any other.
Tough mix- cuts thru
You name it, it'll do whatever, well!
Vintage tones, modern tones-again, it does it best.
Wish I could afford another:o
An AC P-bass......

I have a set on my new HDT KBP-4 and I love them! At first they seemed a little high for tension, but they settled in a week or two after it arrived. Great tone and feel, not too bright but not super dead sounding like some flats.

Man, I don't know, and feel free to disagree, but I've had both on my LG5. First with the Hipshot and then with Jimmy's bridge. To me the tone and feel changed in a really positive direction (for authentic 60's jazz tone that is) when i put on Jimmy's bridge. the high end smoothed out a little, and if the bass wasn't already the punchiest thing I've ever played, this definitely did it! Maybe it only pushed the bass 5% closer to that über 60's tone, but for me the feel was worth it.

Did I miss this "new bridge"? Is it a different version of his bent plate?
