I seem to remember Paul's Olympic White LG for sale on a website quite some time ago. Can't remember where though. I could totally be making this up, but I just remember being shocked after hearing the tone he was getting with that sweet Brazilian rosewooded jazz bass and a REDDI di on their Intel live in London show. Tone for days!!!

Paul's been experimenting with a few different basses for the last few years...I know Fodera NYC was one...

I got the email and will ask which one did the recordings.

Here's a shot of the basses we brought to the show... Sorry for the blurry pic but I'll get a better group shot as I have them all at home currently!

Copper 81009, Rick Sybrandy's Ash/Maple KBP4, lefty LG5 w/ Spalted Alder body & DN board (from BPLive '12) and a couple of customer basses: Sunburst TB RA5-Ash/RW, CAR RA5... Also Rick's LG5 was with Form Factor and mine was at A-Design (REDDI)... Fun show, Oskar's band KILLED! And so did Tim Lefebvre.

I think that was his first LG5 without binding.
The newer one with dots and binding is still with him.

Heard back from Paul - all tracks except for Take Me
Home were done on the 66 J, TMH was done on his 63 P.

For all the time I've known him his main recording basses are 4 string Fenders- especially the white 66 J. There are a few tracks on the last Jam. album with the LG5 but that was mostly the '66. I think live he just does not want to switch basses to cover the tunes he needs the 5 for.

Nothing like 47 year old wood! I play drums and it's the same story. When wood gets really old something happens and I don't know what it is.
