Yeah, it all happened rather suddenly, and... to be honest... I'm still in shock.
I picked up one of the Limited Edition Spalted Alder LG basses... it has a spalted alder body, maple neck, and "Jimmywood" board, which JC told me is "an exclusive hybrid/cross bread of two different species of Brazilian rosewood."
It was ordered by another lefty player who ultimately decided to order 5-string to match his current favorite 4-string rather than going in that direction... so, being that there are very few lefties who would be in the market for a bass like this, I guess this is one of those rare times where it was beneficial to be a southpaw.
I have a Fender Custom Shop '64 NOS that is my favorite bass in tone, feel and vibe... BUT, because of my current gig, I need the modern thing too... it's been my goal for a really long time to capture both of those flavors in a single bass and I think the A-C is going to knock it out of the park.
Anyway, here's a picture...

The burst finish on the neck, blonde striping on the fingerboard and spalting in the alder make it look like a late 19th century piece of folk art... it's so rustic and beefy looking. I love it so much.

Congrats! I was actually going to tell you about that one but last I was in the shop, Jimmy said it was sold... I guess to the person who ordered it and backed out... Great timing! To those who are looking, it's always best to call Jimmy because basses become available more often than you think and it's just timing... And in all honesty, you can't really call ahead and rely on Jimmy to remember to call you when the model you want is somehow available... He's got a lot going. Enjoy!

Options are...
1.) Keep it Clear!!!
2.) Red Tort (3-ply)
3.) Black (3-ply)
4.) Brown Tort (3-ply)
5.) Mint (3-ply)

As a lefty, I have to say concrats to a beautiful bass. I vote for a clear or no pg. I removed the black pg from mine. Why hide that great looking alder?
I'd go black to match the board and headstock... You can see plenty of the spalted alder on the rest of the body...

Wow.... Man, that looks so cool... JC can certainly make some beautiful bass. This rivals any of the fancy top Sadowsky's I've seen, and in my opinion is even nicer looking than many exotic fodera's. Geeeeezzzzzz!!
Q: Why the skunk stripe? Obviously this isn't a 1 piece neck.. Whats the deal?

I like clear best, then red tort... but they all look really great with that bass.
It's hard to tell... is that a shadow on the headstock? Or is it black? If it is black, then I think a black scratch guard would look super great.

I shortly had an LG5 about 3 years ago, but the one I tried was insanely heavy, and I thought the neck was really wide for me (but I pretty much think that any 5-string with full spacing is too wide for me, so. . . )
But the sound was truly remarkable. . .

Yeah, I also have issues with really heavy basses, so I told Jimmy I wanted it to be close to 9 pounds, which is my personal ideal weight for a J bass. Too much figuring on that wood for tort. That would be strange. Black would look awesome. Never liked clear guards myself, but works nicely on that one. Black would be the thing for me on that one. Can't even picture white
My second choice would be black, and def no torts for the same reasons, so we "sorta" agree.
There was a gold fretless KBP4 that was an early one out of the BootyQ. Anyone know where it is? I would like to have it if the current owner is done.
