Club Alleva-Coppolo (Part 21)

The Poudah Bass.. She sure has been thru the mill. But it's playability is like butter.. Smooth and tight.. With a growl that i have never felt or heard in a P bass. People are always commenting on this one.
I've gone thru many pickups changes .( to experiment) and I came back to the originals. And that's the way it stays.
This bass has been all around Planet Earth and the USA with me.

Its Lightweight Alder, Nitro, It was Sonic Blue but faded...parts have turned surf Green a little bit. I know it looks lighter here.. Lighting.
It has a rare African Rosewood Fingerboard that has smooth and very fast attack..Jimmy basically copied my old '63 jazz neck so its an "A" width..
I'm experimenting with an old Badass Bridge that I had laying around and changed the original parchment guard to the Faux salami PG for the winter.
Stock bridge is going back on the bass today, and Parchment guard will go back after the winter season..

People ask about POUDAH.. I was on a session the week after i got this bass. The bass was PRISTINE. My dog Poudah passed away the day before. The producer sent out for lunch. I was rather down in spirit,, I had my fork and knife eating lunch and I just felt it was in me to Put her name (Poudah) on the back of the bass . That way I would see it forever. I knew that i would never sell this bass.
She was a great dog. Since then As my dogs pass away, I put their name in the back too.
This is the most unique sounding basses that i have ever played.

May I ask what modification you did to your pick up with the tape? Is that an idea to eliminate some of the noise when touching the P pick up? I might be able to use this on my Precision with nordtrand pups as it makes an annoying sound when I unwittingly touch the pole pieces while playing.

It is exactly as you said..
Oh yes..I usually have my thumb on my Pup cover. But sometimes i want the E string to be muted . So i rest my thumb on that string so its muted yp get tight 1/16ths or 1/8ths/ .. i subconsciously move my thumb down to the E string and mute it. If the flesh of my thumb touches the Pole Piece i may get a slight hum. Hardly noticeable or not noticeable in the FOH on a gig.
But with In Ear Monitors I can hear everything that is happening.. SO
I put Gaffers Tape, sometimes Black Electrical tape. But that wore off so i had the crews black tape and used that..

Some rooms it happens and other it doesn't. Just like any P bass or J bass and you touch the poles.

I have KBP4 #B0015, has the same neck dimensions and pedigree. 3tone sb and not as worn as this but pretty worn. I feel the same about mine! I also had a Lhasa Apso that died, they are such great little dogs.

sovereign citizen .. Google it. They are bread crumbs.. sort of a PUZZLE ... ... You may have to Google under Black's Law books

These will become collector items in the future as they change..
They can be ordered without it. But the stock basses have it.
My Custom order LG5. I asked for him to have it on mine..
It morphs from time to time....
But like i said . They are bread crumbs.. a Puzzle to solve.

I remember Jimmy putting some sort of reference to a 911 conspiracy on the back of somebodies headstock, without letting the customer know first, and they weren't to pleased about it. Is it an upcharge to not have any references to anything, other than a serial # and maybe Jimmys' signature?

But as you already know, if someone doesn't want anything on the rear of the headstock, they can easily order it that way.. He asked me if i wanted it on my bass when it was ordered,, I said yes I DO want it.

No upcharge or down charge... But its his thing.. Take it or leave it .. Like Fbass putting a Maple Leaf on their headstock. That's a political / geographic statement..

Its not really extremist depending on how extreme one may be in another direction.. I've seen a few PBS shows with certified architects and engineers and UL workers that have come out endorsing the Alternative non sanctioned Main Steam Media's point of view.
I keep an open mind. Then decide if i wish to look into something more or not look into it .
Remember, JImmy lost a few friends on that day in the collapse and the aftermath with his FD and PD buds.

Yes we all do... I liked the NYC italian thing too.... I forgot about that.. In europe those are collectable .. These will be collectable too.. He is always changing it up. sometimes MORE sometimes less. sometimes Nothing at all ..
