It really is tempting, Gary. I know that finish would be incredible. A real knockout.

I was thinking that the Ice Blue would go better with the blocks and binding. I also love Ice Blue Metallic.

Decisions like these are so hard to make! I would also dig having a KBP-5 in 3 tone burst. Just like Dave's actually. So I keep thinking that I'll do that and then have two different but amazing basses from Jimmy.

I guess these are good decisions to have to make though...

I'm not really sure he's going to be using the same paint guy once he moves to Cali......OT, the A-C blues on the RAs are amazing! (Got Blues for the RA and Reds for the LG).....I don't know if it's a the bass, strings, or a combo of both, but this bass definitley has a different characteristic to its sound compared to the LMs I have heard and that's great to experience first hand considering that I'd like to have one someday soon......

It is better than any pic I have ever seen! The guy that is doing the finishes is a true master! There is nothing out there that I have seen that is even close to what this guy is doing. The overall finish is amazing and is just the icing on the cake on what Jimmy is doing with these basses! I am very honored that I am fortunate enough to own the one I have. I keep thinking about another one but I don't know why! I love the one I have and the only thing I can think of is maybe a KBP JUST like it! YOu really can't go wrong with any of his bases but the 3TS is definitely something special I highly recommend it to anybody who loves old Fenders!

I had heard from Jimmy that he has found a guy in Cali that does old-school Nitro finishes as well. Not sure if he'll stop using the Fender guy or not. That's something I'll have to ask. I would really dig having the Fender guy do the burst on my KBP-5 if I decide to get one.

You're not making it any easier to not buy another bass from Jimmy! ;)

I have to pay off the LG-5 before August but after that, I may be in trouble... :rollno:

That may be true, but when I checked in with Jimmy a few weeks ago, he told me that a few 'burst' bodies had already been sent to his Nitro/Burst painter. (MY upcoming LG5 was included!) :hyper: I sure hope my 3TS comes from the same guy that did Tom's LG4 and that Burst KBP5! Those are the most stunning examples of 3TS burst/Nitro finishes I've ever seen!

I'm sure it will.........when I talked to him the other day he said it would be a new guy doing the painting when he moved (he may start doing it himself, he says)..........the old Fender guy is East Coast based..........can't imagine him shipping bodies all the way back east just to paint them.......:hmm:

Congrats Dave, your new KBP5 is a beauty. My LM-5
has an Indian Rosewood Board too and I think
the IR boards look great!

Just got home froma Colonoscopy a couple of
hours ago and I'm still a little loopy. :eek:;)
