I know it's luck turning in my favor. I was originally planning on a non-sunburst poly finish until I saw your bass. That sealed the deal for me. I was trying to keep the price somewhat under control by getting the poly finish on the neck and then getting the vintage bridge. Jimmy actually apologized and didn't charge me for the nitro finish on the neck. To say he's a stand up guy is an understatement.

I started to say in my post that I would be surprised if Jimmy charged you for the Nitro! Great Customer service is a gross understatement! I can promise you have a wonderful instrument coming your way. I really hope you opted for the Dalbergia! ?

That burst is so amazing. I keep telling myself that I don't need to order another bass once I get my LG5. That it'll be enough for me. While that's certainly true, I really want to get a burst bass from the Fender guy while I still can.

Wow! That's a hint of the 3T Burst coming on my LG5! (Nitro finish and totally inspired by Tommix's Alleva!) Day-am! That is something special to behold! You must be really excited. Congrats!

One word to describe this bass... Classic... Man I really want to try one of these basses...:bassist:

However, my findings when we were doing tests on the bridges for jimmy's basses were that we went though a few different metals. Aluminum, brass, steel and combinations of each..machined from solid material and potted..it took some time and alot of back and forth....Settled on a brass combo finally.. I wouldn't exactly call it minimal difference.. But i would estimate it was maybe a 15% difference..
And my original bridge on my early production LPB LG5 was a badass5. I am not sure of the material makeup of the BAdass.. It too sounded different than the "B"
The badass has weight to it or should i say Mass.. weight and mass are different things i recon.. maybe i should say density... but when you tapped on the badass it sounded different than the "B"..

What i noticed with the Aluminum one that looks exactly like the one one that he uses now. But the aluminum was very noticeable truncated on each end of the audio spectrum.. it was almost as if you had a graphic eq and lowered the deep lows and the top top end by multiple dB.. Some people may like that.. If you were listening to it you would say it had a mid bump but it actually attenuated the highs and lows giving the impression of boosted mids..

After listening tests i ran it though soundforge and took imprints of the actual freqs just to see if what i heard was really happening.> it was an education.. The bridges were identical except for material make up... The aluminum bridge also had different attack or seemed to have a different attack since the fundamental seems to have shifted..
The Brass combo seems to be more flat (if that pertains to this) sounding with a nice attack and best of both worlds...
The Bent Plate still has not been AB against the standard and i will try to get to it this week. It is on the kbp5 and that bass is very punchy.. I want to see what difference the bridge makes.. And see how much the bent plate contributes to the punch if any...
If i do get to do it this week .. i will again try it in soundforge to see what freq curves there may be if any.. Just some of my findings on that subject RE: the Allevas,, They may react differently on a bass made of Maple or another material.. I dont know..

I'm really interested in the results from your tests. I'm surprised that you found the different bridge materials made so much difference. Question: are you making sure that whoever is testing the bridges doesn't know which one is on there when s/he's playing it? I guess I'm saying, if you're the one playing, can you have someone else put the bridge on and conceal which one it is? I think expectations could make a big difference in the sound.

Thanks for doing this testing. It may change what I do with my pending LG-5 order.

Hey Gary,

To me the color on the above bass doesn't look as "strong" as the orange on Adrian's bass. But it is in the sunlight so I could very well be wrong. I'm sure we'll know soon. :)

I'm right there with ya, bro. Ours will be here soon. I'm just not trying to hurry it along too quickly because that means cold weather is not too far off here in the Midwest... :rollno:

yeap, it is the candy apple orange juice, I think it must be the more difficult color to photograph, it "reacts" a lot with the kind of light, sometimes looks like gold, or orange, or sepia :p
