I forgot that Bernie changed the color. I am thinking
Ice Blue for MY next Alleva too. But, I have a lot of time to
think about it. I hope to send Jimmy a deposit after NAMM.

John's shop is in Lake Elsinore, which is in Riverside County. He'll be about an hour's drive away. He'll be really close to Carey's shop in Yucaipa. John's shop is 15 minutes away and Carey/Jimmy's shops will be an hour away...I might have to take a little trip out there and stop by Wild West Guitars on the way. :hyper:

Very cool! I wish Jimmy the best in his new location. I guess my bass will be born in NYC and grow up in California. :cool:

You guys are correct. I did change my bass to Ice Blue with blocks and binding.

As I've said before, it was such a hard decision. Jimmy's sunburst is the best in the business bar-none. We can see that from Gruuv's pics. The Ice Blue just spoke to me the most for this bass so that's what I went with.

Can't go wrong with either!

As I wait on completion of a nitro-finished A-C (it was 3 months yesterday), I seem to recall that another boutique bass maker -- I won't mention his name in this thread but his initials are "Roger Sadowsky" -- warns about possible negative interactions between nitro finishes and the materials on some kinds of guitar stands. So what's up with that? Any horror stories or other info? Anybody here with nitro finishes taking measures to avoid this? I'd sure hate to come out one day and find my shiny new LG-5 bonded irremovably onto the stand I'd set it on the night before. Thanks.

With nitro, one has to be very careful of rubber and any kind of synthetic leather, like the kind on the back of cheap woven guitar straps. All of this stuff emits vapors that soften nitro. Natural and black rubber on stands are very dangerous, as are cheap straps.

You also have to be careful of shirts with dyes. If you wear a new shirt where the colors can run on a light colored bass, and you get hot and sweaty, the dyes can seep right into the finish during one set and it cannot be removed.

Insect repellent on your arm will melt a nitro finish in about a minute.

I love nitro, but you need to know how to live with it.

This is even cooler for me, since I only live one US State away from CA. I am in Arizona. So once my bass ships, I am just a day or two away! Does this mean my bass is now 3 days closer to being done?

( 4 months, 4 days since my initial order ...but who's counting right?)

I was blown away by the Ice Blue when it showed up last November. Pictures simply don't do it justice. And, I can't think of a more "classic" colour for a P bass than 3TS - it just screams vintage to me. Problem is, if I ever buy a third AC (I'm thinking a fretless on down the road) I'm totally up in the air as to what colour to go with. I really love Jimmy's nitro finishes, so I'd like one of those, but I'd also like something that fits in with the two I've already got. I guess Olympic White would be a good way to go. Suggestions?

When I was reading your post I was thinking Olympic White as well!

I think Aged Olympic White would complete the trifecta. Jimmy's Aged Olympic White is just perfect. Not too bright like some are.

Hearing your thoughts on Ice Blue is comforting. I can't wait to see mine!

Cool, yet another AC living in the B-more area! Also, i like your avatar, Climb...what bass is that, burl has actually grown on me thanks to TB. I'm sure you will love your new AC!
