Here's my new bass. Tried to get the shade of the blue just right, but it's tough on camera--the blue is a real nice powder baby blue, and the mint guard is just right (and definitely not the same as white). Dalbergia negra fingerboard, passive tone control, nitro finish, matching headstock. What do you think?

Really beautiful. Wait until you get that thing in a mix!

It's a 'true Brazilian RW'. Jimmy has a limited stash of very old cut wood (I think he said 60 years old or something like that) It's a VERY pricey upgrade, but it looks amazing.

I'll just say that I've played one of Jimmy's basses with the 'standard' RW he uses, and it was as good as any board I've ever seen.

:::ATTENTION folks::: Just a fast FYI.​

I just got off the phone with Jimmy. He is supper busy packing everything for the move to the West Coast and not able to get to the phone, and email is somewhat spotty this week.

He apologized for not returning email quickly and has added a AUTO RESPONDER to his email account.
If you are not getting an AUTO RESPONDER Message it may have not made it past your Spam filters.

The machinery has already left via Trucking company and he is leaving tomorrow to head west.
He expects operations in the new California Location to start back up 7-7-2008.

He posted a pic of the last two Allevas made in the NYC shop on the for sale area.

Dont shoot me. Im just the messenger.:)

The other details are still sketchy about the LG. I will wait until he get to CA before i nail it down.. I have my custom LG with maple FB and the kbp5 with RW FB to hold me over.
I was talking with Lanice Morrison of Michael Mcdonalds band today. He has a kbp5 just like mine. Black with RW board and Parchment PG.. He used it on the European tour and seems to really like it allot.. He said the sound guy that is shy of compliments only had praise.

It's so good to hear more people using and digging Jimmy's basses. He deserves all the success he achieves.

Like me, you have no other choice. But damn, am I ever excited! Why is it that it's so easy to start conjuring up and spec'ing what the 'next' Alleva will be in my personal arsenal ...'before' I even have my first one? :eek:

I'm thinking LM-5 after my LG5. (See you in September, as the song says. That's the time frame)

I know what you mean on spec'ing another Alleva. I don't know if I would pick a KBP5 or an RA5. Probably go for the P because I'll already have a kickin' LG5. We'll see when the day comes!

Just from a purely aesthetic standpoint...

As much as I prefer Jimmy's standard models over any of the other boutique Jazzes our there, I think just the opposite of his fancy wood topped basses. For some the Koa and the Spalted Alder on the for sale pages look off to me.

I am sure they play and sound awesome though.

+1. To me, the magic Alleva's are the ones with the Vintage vibe. Not exotic tops. But I must admit that while I admire a beautiful exotic topped bass, but I find myself gravitating away from them. I prefer a Jazz bass to look more traditional. Maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy? LOL Some custom appointments on a vintage look Jazz-style bass are always cool however. Like custom color, matching headstock, '66 transition era binding on a fingerboard with dots etc.

Hey Climb, Sonic Blue is not normally my thing but I love the look of yours. I think the matching headstock has something to do with it. Awesome!

Anyone know where those last two Jazz basses are going? Anyone? Kirk? The white one is sort of speaking to me...:help:
