Uh Oh. I wonder was it the painter who was doing the Nitro finishes?

Yeah man ... it's the nitro paint guy.
As far as I know, he's on the mend, but he's no spring chicken and it's hard to tell what's gonna happen.
Still no ETA on when he'll be getting to Jimmy's stuff.
Unfortunately, he's got a LOT of AC's waiting to be painted.
Luckily, there's a new guy in Cali who's also amazing and has already started painting AC's .... and we hope that Jimmy's spray booth at the new space will be up & running sooner than later.

I hope he's better soon! Basses are secondary when it comes to someone's health.

Sorry to hear about your situation ... having to give up any bass against your will has to hurt ...
I told Jimmy what you said and he just chuckled and said "well, i guess that one's sold"

And you're welcome Bernie ... I'll see Jimmy later or tomorrow and wish him good luck from everybody on here.

Things are progressing nicely at the shop today ... This morning, the rigging company unloaded the machines from the truck that came from NYC and Jimmy was on his way to another spot to pick up more machines from a California location.

For those who have asked, the new factory is in Upland, CA.

The machines have been delivered and are all in place.
Jimmy is setting everything up by himself, so it's gonna take a minute to get things up & running.
I know he built some shelves last night ... i think in the showroom or his office.
The target date to doing business again is now the 16th.
He's checking emails at kinkos until verizon shows up, so give him a minute to get back to you if you've sent him a message.
He still has the 3 four strings ready to go ASAP.

Hi Everybody,
I've been getting quite a few e-mails, myspace messages and voice mails about the move to California. So I figured since a lot of you cats are Talk Bass members, that this may be a good forum to reach out and respond. The trip out here was a bit long but I made it. I want to thank my friend Jonathan Leeper for taking the Trek out here with my dog Caesar & I. I also want to thank my friends Jason Langley (Bigg Redd Bass), Pat Woodward, Reggie Carson and Paul Taylor who have been extremely helpful since I arrived here. The shop is coming along... a bit slower than I would like... but coming along... it's hard when you do it all yourself... Just bought a car but still don't have a place to live yet. Verizon finally installed the phone line and DSL, so please visit the web site for the new contact number or feel free to e-mail.
For those of you who are concerned about the health of one of my painters, he is recovering and started to complete the special orders. I will assemble and ship them real soon. While he fell ill I hired a (local) painter in San Dimas, Ca. who picked up the nitrocellulose slack. His work is great and he completed most of what I sent him that I will be personally picking up early this week. As soon as my spray booth is up here at the new shop I will have a full time painter on staff. (the fire marshall will be stopping by tomorrow to inspect the booth and provide the proper guidelines for installation, permits, etc.).
All though it's been some what of a journey, I am extremely happy with the new shop and confident in my choice to relocate to California. It feels real good here! I am eager and motivated to start production. Thank you all for your support, kind wishes and patience.

Thanks for the update, Jimmy! I'm glad to hear things are coming along, though not as quickly as you would like. I'm anxious for the time that you're up and going!

This may be heresy, but I'm thinking of parting with my KPB5. I just can't seem to put down my RA5, and I hate the thought of keeping a beautiful bass hostage when someone could be making music on it. It won't be cheap - It has a Dalbergia fingerboard and bent plate bridge ($1400 in options right there, if I recall), but it is pristine and available now at a reasonable savings.

Strictly speaking, I realize this is not the correct place to post, but I've though it was a cool semi-tradition that we've had here to let other AC club members know first. Happy to provide more info via e-mail or PM.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their responses on my KPB5 so far. Lots of interest, but no fit as of yet. I'll be opening this up to the rest of the forum as a feeler sometime in the middle of next week, though I would prefer it to stay "in the family".

i played the white one last friday. probably one of the best 4 strings ive played. that bass really had something. each of the basses i played at the shop had subtle differences in feel and sound and some i definitely liked more than others. if you play a 4 as your main axe, that white one is the real deal.

Glad To hear all is well in Cali with Jimmy.........Just came back from a brutal road trip and recording stint with the basses and they sound as sweet as ever...........A month or so ago, a large tree came down on top of the front of my house (luckily, the basses were not there) and caused major damage........I went on the road to pay repairs the the insurance cats B.s.'d on and took the basses....they were both magic in the mix.....I can't wait to see what happens with the new stuff......
