Club Alleva Coppolo (part 3)

Thanks for the compliments guys--I know what you mean. Six months ago, I would have never guessed that I would buy a sonic blue bass. For some reason, when I contemplated which color to get, I wound up with this. And to be honest, I'm extremely happy with it, especially with the mint guard (I have a tort guard as well but it's got the mint one on it)--looks cooler than anything I would have probably picked out if I stuck with my usual tendencies. Maybe it's b/c it just looks so different than my other basses with all their fancy tops; sort of refreshing. I guess there's a reason that the jazz bass design has endured...

The other details are still sketchy about the LG. I will wait until he get to CA before i nail it down.. I have my custom LG with maple FB and the kbp5 with RW FB to hold me over.
I was talking with Lanice Morrison of Michael Mcdonalds band today. He has a kbp5 just like mine. Black with RW board and Parchment PG.. He used it on the European tour and seems to really like it allot.. He said the sound guy that is shy of compliments only had praise.

+1... as I've posted before, I used to love all those 'coffee table' looking fancy AAAA top woods, neck through, fancy preamps, etc., etc.

Now, the most beautiful instruments to me are a slab of painted ash or alder with a big piece of plastic screwed to the top and a chunk of maple bolted to it!!!!

These just feel so much like 'working basses', but still have all that 'perfect' boutique attention to detail, etc.

I totally, completely am still digging mine after many, many gigs now. I hope you will too!

Just a progress report. The shop is packed up and on the road, currently in Ohio. Hopefully we'll get to the new shop in California mid-week.

Jimmy's now in Cali! We pulled in Tuesday evening. The new shop is very impressive, and should provide a much better manufacturing space than the NYC location.

I thought I'd add a picture of the truck containing all the Alleva-Coppolo secret ingredients. 26' truck + 12' trailer = slow ride and horrible mpg.
5 days, a few thousand miles, no tickets or mishaps (major mishaps. anyway).

You missed a good one! It has a spalted alder body, and has got to be the lightest bass I've ever played.

Hi AJ,

Saw that - if I didn't already own the ice blue one I'd be on this on a second. As far as I'm concerned the RA5 is pretty much the perfect bass since it covers a lot of territory sonically, and has a great feel to it. Don't take my word for it; ask basses55 what he thinks about the RA5.

Anyways, anybody that is thinking seriously about an RA5 should not pass this up - nice deal on a killer instrument!!!

Hey Climb, Sonic Blue is not normally my thing but I love the look of yours. I think the matching headstock has something to do with it. Awesome!

Some of you may know me as Jimmy's best friend and owner of LG5 0001.

As a new California resident myself, it's exciting having Jimmy out here now and watching our conversations of the last 5 or 6 years become reality.
The new factory space is amazing. It's been overwhelming, for sure, finding what to set up first.
I've been helping him get things situated this week and it has been really exciting seeing the next evolution of Alleva Coppolo.
Today, the heavy machinery arrived & will be unloaded tomorrow.

I just got off of the phone with Jimmy & he asked me to relay a few messages.

First, due to a miscommunication with Verizon, the first date he can get hooked up with phone and internet service is July 16.

Second, there are 3 standard four strings available for immediate purchase. One Olympic White/parchment pickguard, 3 tone Sunburst and an Iced Tea Burst. Both the sunburst & iced tea burst have Delbergia Negra fingerboards and all 3 have nitrocellose paint. The white 4 str has Indian Rosewood with pearl blocks & binding.
Please direct serious inquiries to my email or website until Jimmy's is back up and running.

Third, for those of you who have pending basses on order, you have not been forgotten.
Prior to the move, there was a health issue with Jimmy's main painter that has caused serious & unforseen delays in many basses. Jimmy should have more info on this by the time the phone & email is back up.

Lastly and most important, Jimmy wants to thank you guys for all of your patience, well wishes & support. He looks forward to filling all backorders & finally being capable of having instruments in stock on a regular basis.

It is a real pleasure having you here. I respect and admire your work. I really hope you will stick around and participate in the forum on occasion. As an Alleva owner I am happy to see Jimmy's success and as a person I am happy to have the pleasure of knowing him. Unfortunately I had to sell my 3 TS Alleva but that white one is SCREAMING my name! I am going ot give Jimmy a call when he gets up and running and talk to him about it. Thanks for the update and Welcome.
