Yes, the original SlimBag would not be a good thing for a Nitro finish, hence my search.

And Vic, +1. The LG is out of the case literally every day (it's my primary 'practice' bass), so I'll keep an eye on it. When I got it (I bought it used) it did have that 'dulling' around the bottom of the bass which easy polished out, so if I see that developing, I'll go to plan B.

The Mono case if very impressive. Super lightweight, good protection, relatively small but well designed pockets, and very comfortable straps without going to that cumbersome back-pack system of the more recent SlimBags. Highly recommended if 'protection to weight' ratio is key. 90%+ of the inside of the bag is 'cloth', which seems to be a good thing for those of us who own a Nitro finished instrument.

And also +1 to the poster who said to let it scuff up a bit. No problem with that either, on an old school looking and feeling J like an LG with Nitro finish. I'm surely not losing sleep over it! Thanks!

Interesting. I took the bass out of the case this morning to woodshed a bit, and while the finish was still perfect, the bass is now Coral Pink.

You must be talking about the beveled guard I had on my 3 TS Standard 4?? I was not too sure about it until I actually got it and it was really a nice touch! Andy (AJ BROWN) has that bass now because it is a 4 banger and I am only playing 5's now. That was probably the best 4 string I have ever had in my hands and I miss it everyday but I had to have a 5....Maybe he can chime in and put up some pics for you?? I have a couple here:

You know, the last time this issue was discussed in detail, I thought I'd really dig that full bevel. However, it kind of didn't get a lot of love, and IMO it focuses the eye way too much on that 'cutout' section. I think the vast majority of us (including Jimmy obviously) concluded that his original design worked/looked better.

I personally like the non-bevel myself.
The bevel draws too much attention to itself...

i have gotten PMs as to "does he make basses with Control plates" though..
I think i only saw one LG with a control plate IIRC over time.. it was a Sonic Blue LG5.. but to be sure, they would have to ask Jimmy about that.. he knows for certain..

I've asked Jimmy about doing a control plate before and it's something he'd rather not do. Not that he couldn't but he'd rather not.

I love that my pickguard is beveled; I always thought it looked very abrupt and awkward. It takes all kinds though!

See, now this is why Vic didn't want the pickguard. You guys are making it too hard on him. Then he would have to figure out which radius to use on the screw heads and if he wanted the bell cover holes in just the pickguard or if they should be drilled into the body. Or, maybe not have them at all.

oh the original LG5. yes it had the original 4 knob set up when it was spankin' new...
But i was sort of one of the early guinea pigs to try the Vol, Vol, Tone, Bass , Treb which i believe has become standard IIRC...
I like the Vol, Vol over a blend knob for each pup.. for me it seems to sound a little different and to my ears, and better than a blend knob allowing the passive pups to breathe more... just my 2 cents

I will take some new pics today.. BE warned, that just because mine has many chewed up bites in it and dents,, dose not mean that any other Nitro bass will do the same..
I do take very good care of my basses overall.. to me they are a tool to be used and not to hang on my wall to look at.. so it looks like a used tool.. with dents, scratches and peeling on the upper horn that started when someone dropped a DI box on my bass 3 years ago...

Nitro is pretty durable in my opinion.. not as much as Poly but it is durable and looks very organic... and like a 60s fender bass which i think is what jimmy is holding true to,will wear and dent the way those old fenders do... we have all seen them.. Fender even charges a premium price for their new RW Road Worn Mexican models now..
my kbp4 is real RW, no fake relicing at all.. when i do a road gig the tech handles my basses more carefully than i do... but it is worn, but plays and sounds as good as you remember charlie... bassist30....
