Ok, so I literally just scanned through all four parts of this thread.

I gotta' say, so far, the burst LG's with the tort guards are among my faves, but Kirk's LPB LG with the maple board, pearl blocks and white binding is blowing my mind! That bass is completely off the hook. I still dig Ken's Harvest Gold LM a lot too.

Hi

I hear you there, LPB is my favorite! Until recently I always had one LPB bass, often my main player. I had a 67 neck on a mahogany Phil kabicki body (trad jazz bass shape)in LPB with a tort guard for years,,,loved that bass.

Also.... anyone who's PM'ed me about the Ice Blue LG5 if I haven't responded,I'm sorry.Truth is I'm not playing 5's so I should sell it but I keep thinking I'll never replace it :( so I go back and forth in my head.

Tommix,

I really hope your as happy with your new bass as you were with your old. I feel just a little guilty about owning the bass your replacing.I call it "Attack kitty" ;) , it is probably the best bass I've ever owned.

You know I am actually really happy to see her! I am really glad you feel the same way about her as I do! I talked to Jimmy last week and I told him THIS is the best instrument I even played on my life and thanked him for taking the time to do it right. He remembered her as being one of the best he has ever made....I understand you also got the White Blocked that was one of the last made in the NYC shop...JImmy said that is the second nicest bass he has ever made....You are one lucky guy! To have the 2 best according to Jimmy is pretty good coup! I asked him how the 3TS I have coming was and he was very honest and told me it was a different painter and the finish didn't pop like the Fender guy does. He paused flor just a second and then he said..."But It sounds really old, it sounds REALLY old!"

:D

I can't wait to get her on Tuesday! Enjoy them bro, you and I know how special they are! If you ever have to sell for any reason let me know! I technically can't buy the 3TS for about another 8 months but I would love to have a shot at your blocked and bound white one!

BTW - They call that cat "Fuzz Bucket"....I don't know where that came from but I understand that is what they call him (my neighbors cat)!

Peace,

T

hey tommix- is your new bass exactly the same as the one above?

was it already being made ...or when did you order it?

Fuzz Bucket.... that's a better name for a bass (less raised eyebrows/explaining)if I can train myself I might try to switch.

The white one shows up on Weds! The rumble for number one begins! Number one will end up with rounds while the back up gets the flats. Jimmy hinted he thinks the white will win, those are some tall words! Also, it's great props for the Indian rosewood.

The one I have coming is one of the last 2 made in the NYC shop. I wold have thought it was sold so I called Jimmy to place an order for one and he told me he had the one coming. To my astonishment it is exactly what I wanted! I was stunned that he would have it and I am thinking there is some Karma going on here for me....The only difference is that the one that is coming was not shot by the same painter. I really liked the idea that my other one was sprayed by someone who worked at Fender for 50 years! But it doesn't really matter in the end. Jimmy said this one sounds great and I trust Jimmy so that is really all that matters. I can not wait to get her!

Peace,

T

LOL! I thought you would like the name. Please give us all the details on the White one I am dying to know what I missed!

Peace,

There have been so many great looking ACs since I've been away...great to see them posted. Bernie's and Jason's really do something for me- I guess I love blocks!

How does the alder/rosewood 70's pos sound Jason?

It sounds great Mitch.
Warmth of a alder rosewood with the 70's twang.
I dig it.
I'm really happy with the blocks and binding.
We also had "BIGG REDD" inlayed at the 12th fret.

I like that you have a "brand" ....even though I'm the one with red hair I'll steer clear:)

I enjoyed the tracks on your site- the bass (LG?) is a straight up nice Jazz tone (I'm assuming they were done with the LG?)

Cheers

For me, I'll always consider tone first...but it looked good to me too .

Hahahahaha .... That's funny man. I never quite thought of it as a "brand" ... it kind of gives it a new perspective for me.

Thanks for the compliments on the website tracks.
They're actually mixture of my AC's.
The smooth jazz tune is my Limited walnut top 5.
The straight ahead solo is the RA4 that I've since replaced with the RA5.
The Motown & funk tune are both using the LG5.
And the last one is my gone, but not forgotten Fbass.

Ok, it's official... I have an LG that will be here tomorrow, and an LM that will be here Friday, and a gig Friday night. It's gonna' be the battle of the single-coil J5's... my Sadowsky MV5 will also be there. It should be interesting to say the least. :)
