Seriously, they are really different. If you like to really dig in, slap a bit, and like that upper mid growl, then it's the LM all the way. If you never slap, dig old rhythm and blues or classic rock, etc., it would be the LG all the way.

Yes, there is some overlap, but you have a much safer bet by spec'ing to the general tone goals that you really like. If you are an old school funk guy, the LM is just the most killer bass ever IMO and IME. For everything else, it would be the LG for me.

Yeah, I know I`ll have to have both....I do slap quite a bit, and I love the funk of the 70s, so I guess I`ll by the LM first:)

Sorry to bust the bubble of the thread, certainly the topic should have/has been beaten to death in a different thread. But, I honestly felt almost insulted somehow at the quote I was given for a standard KBP-4. It was almost like I was trying to be taken advantage of, if that makes any sense. Anyway, I'll get outta here.

By all means, stay tuned, bruh.................I know Jimmy's prices are serious money..........really though, there are 2 KBPs in the classifieds right now for significantly less...there's also a KBP5 with a DN for a GREAT price....nothing in the world wrong with buying one of the beast used.............good luck and happy hunting........:bassist:

Oh yes, many times. Sounds killer, but it seems to me that he pans a little to the bridge pup, so I`m not sure if it give a good picture of the slapsound on the LG. I always use both pups full up when I slap. I can also see a Gas Cooker on top of his rig, that boks will also colour the bass-sound a bit.

I was hoping someone had some uncolored clips they could share with me. It would be most helpful:)

I`ve checked all those clips of course, thanks, but I think the sound-quality on some of those clips are not very good. Sounds like they are recorded through a camera-mike?
I agree on that the clips are cool though:)

I don't know if I ever told you this but I LOOVEEEE your posts. You're a large part of my vintage bass education. :) Keep them coming.

The bolded statement is me all the way. I love the look of rosewood fingerboards but knowing that I was into old school funk, Jimmy strongly recommended the LM5 to me and I don't regret ordering it. I can't wait until it gets here. :)

I bought a 2008 MIA Standard P5 in June for 1149.00.
It's wurth what I paid for it! But, I have been trying to get
the action lower for a few months. Oh well...:ninja:
I put a shim in the neck pocket today...not much better.
It's not a bad bass... but if I was Pbass kind of guy I would order a KBP5
tomorrow.:smug: :D:D:D
