I am surprised that there aren't many Standard 4s posted around here.
I have only seen a handful in all six of the Alleva Coppolo Club threads. I suppose it is because you guys want that vintage Fender vibe in 5 strings.

ENJOY! I know for me I love 4s and am a 4 player at heart. I am in a situation now that I am only playing 5s so I just made a deal to trade my 4 for a 5 that is being built now so I don't have to wait for mine to be built. I am very lucky that it worked out for me. I am fortunate to have had 2 of these now and they were both really great basses! If you are looking for a Vintage Fender but need flawless craftsmanship and modern build quality there is no better out there than the Alleva. It s the best 4 string bass I have ever played!!!!

Awesome bass, I thought you owned it. I searched around and found the thread where you had posted several different pictures of the bass. In those pictures, you can't see the grain as much as you can in the pictures you just posted, and there is a lot more red. Here's the picture I am talking about

D I V O R C E . . . . My ex forced me to sell all the gear I acquired while we were married. The first one was a casualty of that "experience". I offered her half of fair market value but she was more interested in me losing my favorite gear then the money. Anyway I was fortunate to get the second one whch was the last bass Jimmy made in NYC and is hands down the best 4 string bass I ever had in my hands. I have had this bass for a while and I have only been playing 5s. I have a 5 EXACTLY like this being built and thanks to AJ Brown I will get his spot and his LG5 which is EXACTLY like my 4 with a B String!!! Thanks AJ!

I picked up my A-C LG-5 used just before Thanksgiving. I cannot tell you all how happy I am to have made the decision to buy one of these basses. I had been into the Sadowsky shop a few times in the fall and was considering one of his basses as well. I also have a Lakland JO4 which I think is a really killer vintage style jazz bass (hasn't been played at a gig in 2009 and may not).

In any case I'm guessing I've done about 20 gigs with my A-C, I haven't even considered taking one of my other basses to a gig or rehearsal since I've got this bass. I've settled on DR High Beams which will need to be replaced after the weekends gigs but they sound really great on the well broken in side. I am still wondering when the 9V will need replacing as I put a new one in back in November.

In any case not much to report except to pass along my continued happiness!

Cool! I feel the same way. I rarely take anything else on the gig than my gold LM. I've sold most of my other instruments (my RW/Alder NYC Sadowsky will show up in the used/in stock section of the Sadowsky site this week... although I still dig my ash/maple with singles for some types of gigs).

I have no bass purchase plans in 2009 at all. It's just wonderful when you find the 'perfect' instrument for your particular playing style (feel, look, tone, weight, etc., etc.). The Alleva LM5 is the closest I've ever gotten to the 'sound in my head' (th LG5 is cool also, but I'm really an ash/maple guy at heart... all the way!).

It's just wonderful to have an active, uber quality boutique 5 string that sounds like an old Fender. I never thought I'd see the day:bassist:
