30 - sucks on the ding man, but I have always found that after the initial sick feeling wears off, there is almost a sense of relief that you are no longer trying to stave off the inevitable. Mind you - I still don't look forward to the first one. I suppose you would also feel better about it if it hadn't been a product of someone else's cloddishness. I bet the guitard would have blown a nut if it had happened to his instrument... Ah well, such is life - maybe you are in for a banner Christmas.

You and Kjung are right. What can I do. But at least the next one won't feel as bad.

I placed my order for one of these beauties in mid November after hearing Paul Turner's on a Jamiroquai gig - granted I was sold at this point - coupled with some very high recommendations from a few mates on the basses as its pretty much impossible for me to try one out without me flying to the states.

The specs will be as follows
an LG-5 w/ Brazilian Rosewood Board
AC Preamp w/ Passive tone control
AC Pickups
Nitro finish
Tort Pickguard
Olympic White Paint with Matching headstock
Bound Fretboard

The brief for the bass was basically to get it as close as possible to Paul's bass as possible with the last two changes included. Bit cheeky but its how Ive always pictured my perfect Jazz 5 regardless.

That said Jimmy was more than helpful on answering all my questions. One of the easiest guys to deal with that Ive come across.

Now all thats left to do is wait for the finished product which should be here in late April/early May if all goes to plan :D

Cheers PG82! If it turns out even half as well as your LG-5, I'll be over the moon! Found myself considering a Candy Apple Red version of what I have before I saw pictures of Paul Turner's one and yours again hah.
I tried out a 64 CS Closet Classic Jazz's at one of the shops around here and just feel in love with the tone of the thing.. Just that perfect tone that sits in my head but the Alleva won out on price, an extra string and attention to detail - The neck on the Fender didnt agree with me - plus the upgrade of woods. That said, the bass still had a great vibe to it.

I can see myself going broke with these basses though :D Tommixx's one is just beyond gorgeous.. I feel a small case of GAS coming on for that one now.

After reading these whole thread - lazy day - but its just a good reinforcement for why I ordered this bass, especially with the price tag hah. But It really does seem that its a bass that has all the boxes ticked for being an almost flawless bass and that its meant to be played and played well.
Although that said, compared to some of you guys, I probably should be downgraded to a Squier than owning an Alleva hah.

But I knew I was in for something good when I had a mate who was at BassPlayer Live trying to ring me at 2am to just say how good these basses were! And he doesnt exactly have shabby collection of basses..

Just have to be patient about the wait hahah

Wow, it's sad that a CS 64 costs more than an AC downunder! I was subject to that kind of markup when I lived in S. Korea last year, and man it sucks! 110 bucks for a 5 string set of elixir strings. :(

You are right to go with the LG5, I can assure you that you won't be disappointed.
I also have a 64 CS Team Built Jazz and it's flawless. I mean REALLY, it's the best playing, feeling Fender bass I've ever laid my hands on...and it should be for 3,400 bucks.

BUT...and this is a BIG BUT...it just doesn't really sound like a 1960s era jazz all across the board. Something about it sounds slightly more modern than the LG5, I can't put my finger on what it is, but to my ears the LG5 sounds more Fender than Fender. Maybe it's the pickups or maybe it's the old cut, old growth wood. I don't know, but whatever it is...ME LIKEY.
