Now thats one sweet looking Alleva AJ!! Be one hell of a Christmas present.

PG82 - The markup for gear down here is rather ridiculous. That Closet Classic Fender retailed at 5700, although Id still get it for just under 5k. That said, it did have the best tone, hands down over any other Fender Ive tried. Its a weird experience with that bass though, every time I picked it up everything was perfect apart from the neck for some reason.
But with the options I wanted with my AC before I went Brazilian meant that I could of had the bass made, shipped and taxed for about the same or even less than that Fender.

It really does depend on what store and who Im served by to what sort of a discount I'll get. Xlixirs can range anywhere from 100 to 120/130 for a 5string set.. Im just glad they last as long as they do!

I really want to try one of these basses.. They look like they would play and sound great.. I always look for a bass that is comfortable when strapped on just like my Celinders.. I've seen a few pics of the neck and they look great too.. I have to take a trip to NYC one of these days...

Any updates, Ace? :)

:rollno: Well......
I kinda shot myself in the foot whren I changed up colors from Oly White to CAOJ. Like I said, Jimmy had been having problems getting it to come out right and I took the body out of the loop earlier this month to make sure it wouldn't get screwed up. A body left and came back painted CAOJ with no problems, so now I'm waiting for it to come back from paint for ANOTHER MONTH.....:bawl:!!! Jimmy said he's putting the press on it so it may come back sooner, but I'm not holding my breath. I know the neck is fretted and bound :hyper: and looks beautiful. Now I play the waiting game ....again.

1 Month To Go

I dont know if i should start another thread.. But i just wanted to update everyone on the KBP5.. Jimmy finished the first one today.. Its going to me right after NAMM.. Here are some pics he sent me today.. Jimmy and Marco were up until 3 am winding the Pup and just fired it up today.. its real light.. its real passive,, its a motown punch machine...

Damn it Kirk! i had my mind all set on a new MTD and you just HAD to screw that up by posting these pics didn't you?!.......

;):D

Looks great man...i bet it kills......very jealous I am......

He is having custom Pup cover molds made.. but the molds alone costs a few thousand dollars!!!! so it will be a while... the cover themselves are not that much.. i was joking with him and said if you only sold 10 P5 then each cover would be worth about $1000 each...haha.. but no haha.. its not a stock size it is a custom shape and size for the custom long coil as he has done in his jazz coils...
the thing is you need two separate molds because one coil has 4 pole pieces and the other has 6 pole pieces... so my prototype has the same cover on each.. he is a small one man shop so that kind of money is a huge amount of cake.... eventually they will all be the right covers... i woul dnever think a 25 cent piece of plastic could actually be so costly to manufacture from scratch....
any plasic mold makers out there.. maybe they can help him....
I am looking forward to getting this after NAMM

That's extremely cool! What kind of pickup is it? Looks like there was another set of pole-pieces there. Possibility of a 6-string P-bass? :D
