I'm still struggling to come up with the layout for my next Bordwell.
Bartolini Classic Bass PJ pickups through Bartolini, EMG PJ through Pope, Aero dual coils through Pope, some sort of humbucker through an East, etc. Just a few ideas.....
I'm not really good at describing things, haha. It is an amazing instrument though and I couldn't be happier with Cliff's work!

Yes, I am definitely going to go with some sort of dual coil configuration. I am not not really familiar with Aero and I know Pope preamps are used by Fodera. Luckily, this is Talkbass and I can find just about any information I could want!
I'm thinking of some kind of singlecut 5-string E-C. It seems like I have a tougher time visualizing different wood combinations on that body style rather than one of the ball basses. Redwood burl top perhaps?
Just wondering aloud, really. Has anyone ever just given Cliff some specs and let him make all the wood decisions? I think that would be pretty cool to see what he would come up with.
That's how the bass will come unless you request the wood covers for an upcharge.

Most can. While wood seems more ornate, it was actually cheaper than developing the plastic molding on most pickups. Provided it's a pickup company's production pickup, they generally have a plastic molding, sometimes with or without exposed pole pieces. When you go custom, the odds of a plastic molding can be a little more slim.

I ordered my cb bass with a lot of different wood species to get the look that i wanted, but this bubinga bass makes me fell dumb because she's so simple but so great looking

The bubinga bass belongs to Colonel_Claypool. Pics were provided for us to gawk in amazement earlier in this thread. I do agree that is a great looking bass. It turned out better than I expected.
I'm feeling the itch to order a CB, but the fundage is not there. Hopefully sometime soon.

Bubinga is one of those woods that just works. Figured, sapwood, or plain, it's a looker. I have it on my Conklin and my first bass, a Peavey Cirrus 4. No real gripes with it as a top wood, although it's pretty dern heavy as a solid body wood. LOL, that and I got tired of people asking, "OMG, is that bass trying to be like a Warwick, they're great for metal ya know...."

Rick....let me know if you're ever in town man...I'd love to check that one out. The only Bordwell I've played was one of his very first basses...and that one was fabulous!
