Club Bordwell Part 2.

Finally got to try the Bordwell in a full band mix (bass, drums, guit, vocals, sporadic keys), and, well, all I can say is: Best. Bass. Ever. I'm going to have to raise the pickups on the treble side a bit, but I do that with pretty much all my basses, so no big deal. No recording, and my V-Type blew a fuse toward the end of a 20 minute epic jam, but I am extremely happy with this bass. I think my next one will be a Big McNeely P-bass...

Might be later rather than sooner, I just found out why my V-Type blew a fuse: several hours of loud jamming with the impedance switch set for 4 ohms instead of 8. Idiot!Glad you're enjoying it. So when are you ordering the next one?
From what I understand generally a 1-step mismatch isn't catastrophic, but I'm not a tube amp expert. Hopefully it just needs a new fuse, and of course an operator who actually pays attention for a change.
I know my next one will be a Big McNeely with a maple board (and of course passive with black hardware), the other details I'll put together when I get closer to ordering a second one. P-bass v. Big Singles, hmm...

Update: apparently the pickup shipped Thursday (I think, long week....), so hopefully I get mine in the next week or so.
I wouldn't be terribly surprised if he snags one sooner or later, but he'd be selling it for 3-4x what Cliff charged to make it.

Yup, it turned out alright. It would have been nice if the walnut were a bit more figured, but I think the fingerboard and pickups are more than enough bling for one bass.
No idea of when I'll actually get this one started, but this is next. Perhaps sometime next year. Probably could have started sooner, but got slammed with some bills for many things going wrong with the house. Oh well, it happens.

I hope very much to be able to own one of Cliff's basses at some point, probably something very similar to Dave Muntner's 32" 6er, but your bass is something else, as is the recent McNeely!
I'm eternally jealous of you 'orrible lot

Glad you like it. I almost feel guilty for basically stealing Tim's specs in terms of my tone, but it sounded too good and versatile to pass up! Apparently mine sounds pretty close according to Cliff, although I must admit it's a little odd to know how a custom bass would sound before getting it.
The beauty of Cliff's operation is that you have several body styles, many wood combos, different scale lengths, electronics combos, etc. Based on the gear you own, I'm guessing you're considering a 32" or 33" scale 6er, which seems to be his specialty! I'm considering a 32" scale fretless 7 for my next one from Cliff.
