It has probably been covered, but Chris Wood has one of these. It wasn't as pretty as the basses above. I think he occasionally uses it, but largely plays his P-bass and upright.

I'd love to get a straight ahead, no nonsense S bass as a passive Jazz and D bass as a passive P. Always good to have one of each in the stable, even better if they're made with Cliff's aesthetic and craftsmanship!
I first played a Warmoth "Wide 5" jazz back in the 90's. It was billed as "P-bass spacing for 5 strings", and I just felt comfortable on it, kinda like a classical guitar. It's not to everyone's taste, of course!

I was talking to Cliff this morning about the neck wood on my upcoming order. I didn't choose this option, but wow!
It's there for the taking if anyone else is interested.
Im going with all Wenge because weight will not matter since its only a 32" scale 4 string.

Forgive my naivety but would this be for a fingerboard, or the neck itself? It looks insane.
No worries, it's the uncut neck wood. So it's the whole neck, not fingerboard.
Not sure if you've ever tried a roasted maple neck, but man they are the jam. I've owned a few of the newer music man basses that had them. VERY NICE!

That fretless 6 has been one of my favorite basses for a long time! So nice...
Better to ask him. My guess is not worth the electrons it takes to share it.
I was 14 months 8 months ago, and I have heard 18 recently. But yeah ask the man himself.
I got a 12 month build slot, but I think I squeezed in under the wire in a batch. Mine's due this spring, hopefully May.
Thanks, a local college student stopped by this afternoon and played lots of basses including all of the Bordwells. He picked up the fretless 6 and start noodling the Jerry was a Race Car Driver riff, I laughed.
He's been asking to check out the bass collection for months, met him on a gig a while back. I explained the Bordwells are all custom handmade and it takes 1-2 years to receive the bass, jaw dropped.
I, on the other hand, buy them on TalkBass.

So I grabbed this neck for my next build. And today my fretboard wood arrived. I'm doing a Black Palm fretboard and buckeye top with a lightweight swamp ash body.
30" 4 string.
I was very excited to discover the black palm. Cliff has never used it. I found it at a UK luthier supplier.
This is what they say at the site I bought it:
Black Palm is a fantastic material for fingerboards, if not all that well known. It is incredibly hard, and when sanded it takes an incredible shine. It is also really hard wearing too, so all in all a fantastic material for fingerboards.
