Just curiosity on my part...but which is more updated: Tom's "In-Stock Page", or his Ebay site? I am curious as he lists 3 instruments for sale (including the VERY handsome looking #165) on his site, but none on the bay. I am the finicky type who doesn't really have the patience to plan out the custom features I want, so I prefer viewing inventory pages because it tends to lead to impulse purchases

Last I heard from Tom on the stock Basses, the 2 (plus the guitar) were available. The #164 was the one on Ebay that started the process rolling for me. Like WT says, best to get in touch direct.

Anyone know if the Anne is the same bass as the Lise except for the chambering?
What do (those of you that have either model) use to carry yours to gigs? I have plenty of regular sized cases and gigbags; they look to be fairly wide. Or better yet can you measure the body width and total length - post it please. Am I going to need to buy something to fit it in?
I am hoping the Lise can be a 6 string. The lower leg rest is more towards the neck to fit the left leg to rest on and the lower part of the bass body has an indent rest for the right leg in the sitting position without stretching. I have a cheap bass used for experimentation and have rather closely come to the conclusion the Lise's configuration / body style is the one for me. My gigs tend to be mostly orchestral type situations kinda. Thanks, y'all. Order date getting closer.

Mid to late Jan till shipping, and then there's that irritating bit of water called the Atlantic Ocean to get it over!
That is going to be a nail biting time for me!! Mr Postman doesn't always share the same love and care that I feel for my purchases!!
Unfortunately, I don't need to travel with my gear. However, I did check the fit to various gigbags. My Anne won't fit into my Fender bag - too thick and just a smidge too wide. She will fit into my double bag with room to spare. Dimensionally it is 13 3/4" at the widest point, 21" from front of horn to rear strap and 2 1/2" overall thickness. Overall length is 43" on a short scale neck. Hope this helps.

Not quite the same bass, but somewhat close. The Lise is narrower and has a little different shape on the lower end than the Anne. The Anne is a little bigger and rounder all over. But they are very similar and both are designed with a combination of seated and strap comfort in mind. The slightly assymmetrical design lifts the strings a little from the lap, and the lower horn enables great balance when sitting. Both basses can probably be made symmetrical, though (so the neck goes straight down the middle and not offset). Both basses can be made chambered or solid.
I think the Anne is 5 and 6 string (preferably 6) while the Lise is 4 (maybe 5). They are both great basses.... were you thinking 4 or 6 strings?

About bags, the Lise is not a problem, she's standard width (around 13") so a normal gig bag will work fine. I'm using an Undercover gig bag for my Anne, and it just fits inside. However, my Anne being chambered is VERY thick and a solid body would be a lot thinner, so it would fit more easily in the undercover bag.
I've got a double Undercover bag, too, and it fits there, too. The really good thing is that Bass Central is not too far from Tom, so he might be able to get one for you prior to shipping.

Don't see for me that a chamber bass is needed. So who knows perhaps I may opt for the Anne as a solid body because of the 6 strings. But will want the inclusion of the Lise indentation at the body end which will fit against my right leg the left leg supporting the bass.
Do want the offset features; they make ergonomic sense for how I play and hold a bass.

Here's a direct comparison shot between the two
All of my basses are 34" scale length. I have tried 35", but I never really got comfortable with them. But Tom will build anything, i think. I know he's built 30, 32, 34, 35 and 36".
When it comes to the chambering, maybe it adds something when it comes to warmth, but the Piezo bridge does certainly add some acousticness to the sound. It does have an awesome impact on the weight, though! Making a huge bass very comfortable weight-wise.
The Anne is a huge bass and was meant to be The chambering makes it rather acoustic when played unplugged. It's not as loud as an acoustic, obviously, but it's a bit more responsive than a solid body. However, it will also have a different feeling when jammed... sometimes I prefer a solid body feel... it vibrates more and "behaves" a little differently. For my jazz band it's perfect.

I want a small but full 6 that fits like a glove so hoping the Lise can be the one. it looks right. Perhaps a neck placed as the 4 neck fits now; low B cutting into the upper bout and the high C one string lower than the G. That I think would fit nicely. We will see what Tom offers as suggestions and the expert luthier that he is. Open to suggestions.

I have 2 bags that can hold 45" length, 2.5" thick and 15" wide bass. So I am all set in this category.
Anne or Lise at 1.5" solid body would be GOOD! Spanish cedar, maybe a mango top?, 3/4" radius @ the upper edges, ebony FB on a one piece maple neck, ebony nut, one Bartolini xxxM56c quad coil pup at 110 mm from saddles, one volume pot and input jack on top by the bridge. Simple and sweet.
