And it's great fun doing it and an interesting process. I think if you slim off a little on the upper bout, and then add a little more mass on the back, I think it could be very attractive.
Did you intend it for "uprightish" playing? or traditional bass guitar?
Whatever floats my boat at the moment. In any case, it will be a couple of years to bring this one to life. I will do no controls for this one. Took them all out of my test mule at home and like it very much. Finger position and attack are fun to play with in this mode. I thought it might be too bright but it was not. Surprised and goodly so and the pickup is a BL 5 Q tuner!!!!

Yes, I love floating boats, however leaves in the trees from way up high I love better. (mountains is my preference instead of the beach fronts.) Different leaves for different trees and none fits the wrong one. And basses are from trees. Now you know why your bass is different from my bass because they are different tree lineages. So cool the complexities of life.

Wait til I redo this as a 6 string as it is seen in my brain it will look better, more fluid. That drawing is a trace of #20 and that's a 4 string. Widen the new neck will balance things all around and fatten the lower body also. The most important thing here is that I like a lot, though. Ain't that the truth?!

If you get a shape you think is working, I'm happy to gave a go at rendering it for you. I'm a bit stacked out at the mo with. Work (boo) but on holidays in a couple of weeks (yay!!!) I might have a stab at a design whilst I'm off myself!

I just wanted to share with you a great experience I had yesterday: last night I finally discovered the soul of Clement #140. What a voice it has, and so much soul.
You may know that I wrestle with music making. One day I'm in, the next week I'm out. Rinse, repeat. But the tools keep pulling me back into it. These days, that means old tubes and old amps that get me playing the bass guitars (old and new.)
Clement #140 had been creeping up on me. When I played it, I recalled playing the two custom 6-string Tobias basses I owned years ago. I realized that I needed to get past the technical nature of the 6-string format and just... well, just play the mess out of it, the way I would my old P Bass.
Last night it all clicked. As I played Clement #140 through my hot rod 1973 Fender Vibro Champ, I started making beautiful sounds and soulful music. And I forgot what bass I was playing and how many strings it had.

Now that I think of it, I also forgot about my earlier regret that I chose Nordstrand Big Split pickups instead of Big Single ones. I wasn't missing any rawness or tactile relationship with the sound. Just fantastic.
So once again, I thank you for an excellent instrument, Tom. Keep up the good work, Man!
