Club Clement (Part 4: Post your basses here)

Full report on #213.

Well. Have had #213 in my hands for a couple of days now. I really expected to be happy with this bass. I wanted a simple fretless 5 string with minimal controls but a great singular fretless sound. And ordered dimensional specs to be similar to my Roscoe Fretted.

Well Tom frickin hit it out of the park. This bass is just killer! Super easy to play and has a great fretless sound up and down the fretboard. Planned on playing it for 1 tune during practice and ended up playing it most of the night.

So thanks Tom. You done good... again.

aproud1, did you have your Clement at the last Cinci GTG? I believe I played some of your basses, but definitely no Clement. I remember a Roscoe, I think.

But, and this is just a slight possibility, but the parentals want to buy me a new bass for my 18th birthday/Christmas/Graduation present, and Im thinking a fully custom Clement singlecut my be my option. Obviously, I have questions, and would like to talk to owners and even try some basses, but Im very excited for this possibility.

Im sure youre not too crotchety, Tom! :D

Honestly, I am set tone and feel wise with fretted, for now. My P bass has that entirely covered. Now, if I were to go Clement, the things Im looking for are:
1. Super dull.. When I say that, I mean, the base tone should just be that... a bass tone. I hate clanky, bright, poppy fretless. I want the tone of a Rob Allen, without spending that moolah.
2. Not too heavy, but with a body and headstock that arent small. I like my basses bigger.
3. *Contradictory to number 1 alert*!!! The ability to quack when I want to. Do some Jaco stuff, heavy harmonics, mess with affects, maybe throw some fretless slap and pick play into my resume.

As of now, this is basically just me dreaming out loud until I talk to my parents about how much they plan on allotting me. Im really pushing though!

Had Clement #130 at the GTG before the last. Just got 213 last week.

I was kind of in the same boat with my Roscoe. As soon as I played it with my band I didn't really want to play any other fretted basses.

I wanted a simple nice looking easy playing fretless. #213 really does it for me.

If you plan on being in the neighborhood we can set something up. Sounds a bit like you're looking for a bass very similar to mine.

I'd just like to say thank you to everyone posting their basses, and to Tom himself for running a great company that makes great products.

I've been talking to him lately about a bass, and hopefully will be sending my first payment at the end of this week.

34" 4 string "Ryan"
One piece swamp ash body
2 x EMG35DC pickups
3 band EMG EQ q/ mid sweep
Maple neck, ebony fretboard, stainless steel frets
and a brass nut for good luck :)

Can't wait for the process to begin! In the meantime, please everyone keep posting pics!

Nice one Burlington - Love the sound of that spec. I'm 99% sure my next Clem is going to be a Ryan. My #164 is a Swamp / Maple / Ebony combo and I love it to bits. It plays like an absolute dream - the neck is **stellar**

As for getting more walnut like that, Tom, you know you could cut that kind of wood into tops and get a lot more mileage out of a nice billet like that? :smug:

Not that I am complaining, though. :D
