Hello all...

New to this board. Tom is making me #253.

Specs:

Jon (Single Cut)
Kaya body
Maple Neck
Maple Fingerboard
Hipshot Headless Hardware
5 String
32" Scale
19mm String Spacing
Nordy Big Singles
Passive (Volume/Volume/Tone)

Not too fancy, not too common, just my style.

Welcome to the Club

Great looking bass you have on the bench - not heard of Kaya before, but I like what I'm seeing - real nice tight grain, and the shaping looks 1st class, the arm contour seems a bit 'fuller' than on my babies - may just be the light though.

Plus headless? That's going to be a fine instrument. Keep the pics coming!

No, no fanned frets. I am assuming they are just reference lines to help with Tom the radiusing process. Secret tricks of the trade I suppose?...Probably the same way the little Keebler Elves put those lines on their fudge striped cookies. :D

LOL. You have revealed Tom's biggest secret. Those lil tikes work looooong hours tirelessly and have a well known reputation for a relentless pursuit of perfection in everything they do. You don't "C" them but they are there. :hiding: (And they do work barefooted)

I am wrestling over what to do. Bart pup for #256 may not be ready til mid 2012 and can not be cancelled. I can get already done Benavente pups now in sufficient width for my 19mm spacing on this 7 stringer.
I am just an old hippie and I dont know what to do. Should I hang on for the old or just move on with the new?

This sounds like some great specifications for this build. What gauge and brand of strings are you going with?

We'll pass the Yamaha around as a time killer so that we can have something to play while you build! :D

would be cool, huh? Thank you for your custom order, please feel free to jam on this Yamaha in the meantime.

the Yamaha is a great bass. It's my second. However, my experience tells me Clement basses are even greater :-)
